Hate to report this but ran into problems during mapping. Tuner noted power drop off at 6k on multiple runs then detected ticking sound. The consensus with RaceCal and TDI is to pull the motor for inspection. Car is on the way back home tomorrow and I will tear it down and send the long block back to TDI for inspection. Will update as things develop.

Back at TDI for mapping, will report results soon!

Can anyone tell me what gets mounted to this spot? Assume it monitors flywheel speed for motor RPM but wasn’t present on my old transmission.

Home made subwoofer box with Alpine Type R 12” subwoofer. Pumps out some serious bass, was worried about blowing out my rear glass back in the day! On a weight savings mission so amps and subwoofer need to go. Subwoofer alone goes for over £200, get a bargain for £100 or best offer. Must pick up from Winchester as too heavy to ship.

Getting a bit warm out there so new Koyo rad and AH Fabrication header tank. Also diagnosed what was causing my fuel level to stop working, off to Banzai Breakers tomorrow to pick a fuel sending unit.

She’s home! So nice diving her again, although I forgot how extremely low I had her, had to avoid any speed bumps. MOT in the morning and away we go! Dyno and tuning will be booked soon.

Well she’s ready to come home… everything wired up and installed. Last check of fluids and should be leaving the lock up. It’s been a long journey but now it’s time to enjoy the Z again!

Fresh update. Engine is installed, Haltech mapped and configured. With some help from Nick it is running and sounds sweet! Just need to install new glass and should be on the road again.

Engine ready to drop back in! Welded up the heater core pipes, was going to cap them but one nipple was interfering with the fuel rail so they had to go. A lot more simple without the EGR, IAC, and plenum coolant lines!

Thanks Stephen, I hear you. I have Brembos on the rear also but it didn’t help.

After installing R32 Brembos the ABS system was triggering too early. I pulled the fuse and drove without ABS on the road and track for many years without issue. In fact being able to brake at the limit allowed my NA to humble many more powerful cars. Removing at least 4 meters of plumbing can only be better!

New brake line layout. Front straight to a T and then using the ABS sensor holes to reach the braided line coupling. One line running to rear into a T near the right rear wheel and then following the standard clamps to the left rear.

Quick update, she is slowly coming back together. Installed the Quaife dif and half shafts from Kaiju (James Time Attack Z). Removed the ABS system and ran all new, greatly simplified brake lines. Sanded the tint off the rear taillights, polished them and installed. Both doors fully reassembled. Roll bar installed. Pulled the fuel pump hanger and ordered a new walbro 255 pump kit. Wiring loom prepped and ready for install. Next up is dash rebuild and then prepping the motor for install.

Sign me up! Gives me a safe deadline to work towards for the rebuild completion.
