  1. That is stunning Joel.............. You should be sooooo proud of all your effort and how stunning she is....... Rolandas..... Your car is gorgeous...... the bodywork is beautiful and the engine bay looks sooooo clean and uncluttered......... some stunning work going on here........
  2. I did, but then my imagination took over and in my head I joined the fast and furious crew and was drifting, driving like vin diesel and paul walker...... Thats when reality smacked me in the face and said...... I thought "you have 2 small children and you drive like a pratt in an auto, let alone a manual!"........ So for the safety of other road users, making sure my kids still have a dad alive and with a driving licence..... I decided an auto may make me act more responsibly....... lol
  3. I pulled the Transmission, fitted the replacement, painted the prop shaft, painted the heat shield between the prop and the exhaust with heat resistant paint, touched in the underseal...... Friday i need to pull the whole lot again as the torque converter moved whilst fitting and now the oil pump isn't lined up anymore...... Grrrrrr And also found the rear gearbox mount split....... Been a hard couple of days.........
  4. I think "ohh" is a better name.......... After weeks of watching this on repeat with the boy's....... lol
  5. I am after a good condition rear transmission mount urgently.... I have tried MJP but there is a 3 week wait and I need to get the transmission back in the car...... Cheers Russ

  7. Anyone got experience of an NA auto box with a drain plug on it?? It does not look like a TT box as the sump is rectangular and doesn't have the TT gasket shape........
  8. Found a load of info on which models the NA auto box was fitted to with years. The TT auto box (in red) fitted to the TT 300zx..... So if you want an NA auto box..... these should fit!! But don't hold me to it.....lol Model Years Transmission Type Engine Type/Size Transmission Model Remarks 240SX 89-98 4 SP RWD L4 2.4L RE4R01A 300ZX 1/89-97 4 SP RWD V6 3.0L RE4R01A W/O TURBO 300ZX 90-97 4 SP RWD V6 3.0L RE4R03A W/TURBO FRONTIER 99-04 4 SP RWD/4X4 V6 3.3L RE4R01A PICKUP/PATHFINDER 88-98 4 SP 4X4 V6 3.0/3.3L RE4R01A PICKUP/PATHFINDER 90-97 4 SP RWD V6 3.0/3.3L RE4R01A PATHFINDER 98-04 4 SP RWD V6 3.3L/3.5L RE4R01A XTERRA 00-04 4 SP RWD/4X4 V6 3.3L RE4R01A here's a link to the page I got this from with all the auto transmission info.....http://www.txchange.com/id.htm and just found this info too...... 9. Just been trawling the net and found that there have been other models of Nissans with the same box used, but they have pictures of the sump pan having a drain plug....? Maybe a different box from a pathfinder or maxima???
  10. Might be a good idea NOT to touch the fuel pump on it if you do..........:whistling: Or you could end up with a pipe falling off and ending up in the Jurassic period..........lol
  11. OI leave my calves out of this....... lol They will just shrink with age..... like everything else.........apart from my ear lobes and hair that seems to come from everywhere as you get older...... lol Cheers everyone for your wishes on the day and belated wishes, also Lee who needs to get a new calendar or TARDIS........ lol
  12. I didn't get to start work till about 2 pm due to family lunch out...... BUT today....... I removed the battery, dropped the exhaust system, Snapped one of the three turbo elbow to down pipe studs on drivers side... so now need to remove and replace it (grrrrrrr!!!!), dropped the starter, removed all the bolts holding the torque converter, removed all the bell housing to engine bolts, loosened the rear transmission mounting bolts, disconnected oil cooler lines, disconnected the selector rod, dropped the heat shield between exhaust and prop shaft, removed the entire prop shaft........ Then had to get kids to bed..... BUT HAVE A WORRYING FIND...... Is my auto box a TT one or a NA one?? The car started life as an NA, I then replaced the engine with a TT and converted her..... I never changed the transmission, just left the old one in her..... I noticed today as I went to remove everything that the sump of the transmission has a drain plug in it......???? I thought NA ones didn't have this? Or is there a way a TT sump fits an NA transmission to give you a drain plug?? heres a picture
  13. Tomorrow is attempt one for dropping out the faulty transmission and trying to see how much i can get done in one day..... I have one week left of my holiday, kids off school and wife at work 3 days....... so tomorrow and Wednesday are the only days I will have to finish the swap...... Any advice on best way to do this with engine in the car, on driveway, up on my wheel blocks, laying on my back???? I have drained the fluid already to make it lighter and a bit easier to disconnect lines.... I guess it's, exhaust, starter, linkage, fluid lines, sensors, prop shaft..... disconnection..... The torque converter dropped off when moving the new transmission, so I have drained the last of the fluid..... I take it it is best to refill and refit before starting to install??

Going to try to strip diff, plate between the engine and gearbox, starter, wiring, etc. and paint and clean them all before I reinstall...... Plus going to underseal above the box and diff while it is all out....
  20. Spent some time cleaning, draining, painting and preparing the new Auto transmission for it's imminent implant into my Z....... I got soooooo carried away I even painted the casting marks in black to stand out against the silver finish of the box....... Rewrapped the wiring harness and all wiring, checked connections....... Ready to go now... I just need to get gasket, oil seals and clean out the filter before fitting.....
