Detonation is more likely without an aftermarket chip, but i know some people do run boost jets with a stock ECU. Chip is best ideally.

They are really mig welding tips, a couple of quid from a hardware store. You insert them into the wastegate hoses, one in each, and they work by fooling the actuators into raising the boost pressure. Simple cheap BHP increase. They should really be used only with an aftermarket chip, so that the fuelling is sufficient for the extra air. Do a search and theres a write up linked. Pete

The most common chips around here are SE and JWT, there are also Mines and some others knocking around. If you buy them new from the manufacturer they are bloody expensive (£3-400 IIRC) You may pick one up second hand (AndyZ in the traders section often has chips), or a couple of forum members have produced their own ;) and may help you if you ask nicely :) You will need to get it socketed in your ECU which, unless you're a dab hand with a soldiering iron, is not worth risking yourself. Do a search for "chip", "JWT", "Mines" etc...
