  1. i haven't pulled it to bits i'm just building the motor. I am trying to keep it as original as possible. Even going the long and expensive way of trying to get perfromance parts direct from tommy kaira I have a 200ZR on the way so most likely i will focus on building that.

  6. James ..i can send you the cedric manifolds ..or even a cedric motor (VG30DET) that has a HKS turbo kit on it. I brought it from Japan and never used it ...but its mad expensive .... BTW what kinda rear wing is that in your sig ....
  7. i'll see if i have any busted motors lying around and maybe i can take of the manifild and send them to you...they will bolt on to the the Zed motor once some port matching is done. the intake manifold is still a twin throttle and the turbo manifold has a T3 style flange .......the cams , pistons ,rods, crank is identical to the zed ..so its only a manifold difference you looking at ....
  8. thats not a z31 motor ..thats a VG30DET out of a Y32 Nissan Cedric , it also came in the nissan cima and leopard. I have a couple of these lying around my garage. It will bolt right into a Z32 . Its got larger intake and exhaust ports and a thincker block which allows for a larger bore ....they uses this block in Jap builds to overbore for large dispacement . I think Jun also used this block on their boneville land record 300zx. They also came VG20DET .
  9. I am going to unertake an engine rebuild at the end of the month and was looking into ways as to maximize the power output of my Zed. I will be going with the Total TwinTurbo Rebuild kit for AMZ perfromance with GT28R turbos instaed of the amz turbos. I will also be running a standalone engine managemet (haltech, microtech or DTA). 720cc injectors will also be in the mix as well as a water injection system since i live in the hot tropics. if funds permit i might go with a nismo crank as well (fingers crossed) I already purchased an HKS front mount intercooler with full hard pipes , evo7 recaros and R33 GTR brembo brakes..currently running a 3" custom exhaust which will eventually be swapped for a borla set up (anyone ever tried the borla exhaust system?) Well my question is will rasing the TT 8.5:1 CR to lets say 9.5:1 or even 10:1 make sense? Has it ever been done? My plan is to run low boost for everyday street driving and race gas and high boost at the track. Any info on high compression and boosting is welcomed thanks.
  10. Looking for Spec on the VG20DET..came from the Nissan Cedric/Gloria/Leopard ... I am reparing a cedric that came with one and noticed it redlines at 7700 RPM  so i am looking for specs on the heads like cam lift and duration etc
  11. I am planning an engine swap for my zed just to do something differnt and these are the choices before me : VQ30DET 280hp/285tq VQ30DE-K 222hp/ 217tq VQ35DE 255hp/246tq (350z) all mated to a 6 speed gearbox.... my dilemma is go with the VQ30DET where little is know about it , go with a VQ30DE-k and use the extra cash to turbo chargre it Go with the VQ35DE but will have to stay NA for a while....what do you guys think?? Why i choose the VQ line of engines is because they are 30% lighter than a VG and close to 40% lighter with the VQ35
  12. will post pics next week i'm away from home for the week ...hopefully its finished painted by then

  18. ok did some research ....the cime VG30DET came out of the japanese cima, leopard and cedric...vbasically the same as the z32 VG30DETT but has bigger intake and exhasut port and the DET block has thicker cylinder walls so it can be bored out more ...apparenlty all the big horsepower Z's in japan use the DET block ...

  22. its from the nissan cedric ...it was eventually replace by the vq30det ...so all the older model cars to the vqdet powered cars of today .... can anyone confirm: "these engines have more aggressive camshaft profiles and much larger intake and exhaust ports than the standard USA and JDM vg30dett engineso the car that came vq30det had this motor" i am getting my hand on one of these motors but i wanna know if it make sense to purchase
