Is is a Jap import? If so then I suggest that the light on the dash is the cat overheating light. Ivan

OK then guy's whilst this engine is out what else do you recommend? Quite happy with the power at the mo. Car is totally standard apart from apexi intake, mongoose and de-cat. Going to have the plemun chromed. Turbo seals are going I think but can't be sure 'cos the smoke could be coming from the piston rings. I think the 'rings will come as a set of 6 anyway so I'll get all of them replaced. Ivan

Best also to change the coil pack connectors, injector connectors and temp sensor connector as these will no doubt be brittle. Ivan

Does the car smoke at all. Whiteish smoke indicates head gasket. Ivan

Got to do either a psiton or valve on the zed as either the rings are f***ed or a valve is stuck open. My question is can the pistons be removed from the bottom? I will be doing this monumental job myself sometime in the future so I need the easiest way of doing this so I thought if I could get the sump off will I be able to take them out from the bottom? Ivan

All turbo cars use a slight bit of oil when your booting them so just keep an eye on it and make sure it isn't using loads. Ivan

Whats the idle like? Have you checked all the connectors (injector/coil pack/tempsender)? Have you cleaned out the throttle bodies? Could be a PTU faliure. Loadsa other stuff as well mate. Let us know. Ivan
