Has anyone had custom mats made for their Zed?
Can I get a copy of them as well please? Those matts look really nice, but it would be a nice touch to have a logo as well.

speed you get done for?
I've been done at a few different amounts over the limit, but I was a bit gutted to be done at 81 in a 70. Yes, speeding is speeding, but more often than not you have to go at that speed to avoid being a mobile roadblock.

HID: Take a moment to laugh at my expense
You're right! Boldy - well done mate! To be fair though, you got the boost guage and oil pressure in the right place... Was it a big job? I'm getting some from the group buy that's going on, so you may have saved me one mistake at least.

HID: Take a moment to laugh at my expense
Andy thanks for your help. Don't go giving Dan duff information now... gerrit? Appreciate everyone's empathy on my cock-up by the way. Just remember though: You all thought you were capable of doing it, but I actually did. Still if it stopped one other person making the same mistake it was at least worth posting. I think it's probably best for all concerned if I don't go advising Dan on the connection, but I definitely know it was a bullet one. Simon.

HID: Take a moment to laugh at my expense
So I received the HID kit from Danny's group buy and firstly have to say thumbs up for the service and the speed with which he got them shipped out. I made it my mission to fit them this weekend... that's where my trouble started. Found that my Clifford alarm unit had be fitted to neatly cover the access point to the headlight unit, so I had to remove that. No major issue, but a frustration. The real pain was removing the old lights. Managed the offside without too much hassle, but the nearside was a complete nightmare - took me ages with lots of fumbling around and resulted in lots of bad language and considerable bruising and skin removal to my right hand/arm. Finally got both units fitted (just in time as I was about to lose my rag) and guess what? They didn't work... ...only about five seconds later I realise the sad truth. I'd only gone and removed the bloody main beams hadn't I! :headvswal I have now reversed the process and will try again next weekend. I feel like such a tw@t. :slap:

NZR - PDA & SatNav
I've had TomTom on the Palm T3 for ages now. I've got the bluetooth receiver for it. I upgraded to version 5 when it came out and have been pretty pleased with it to be honest - especially the full postcode searches... very handy. I used to use the Palm for other stuff as well, but now work have given me one of those new fangled blackberry things, so my poor Palm only gets used for Sat Nav now. I think a lot of the smart phones support GPS navigation now as well.

Immobiliser has immobilised my car completely!
Thanks guys, appreciate the advice. Got the AA to tow it to a specialist and they bypassed the immobiliser for now. It was a pain anyway, because the alarm and immobiliser were fitted separately, so I had far too many fobs to worry about!

Important - Please Read :(
That's awful news. My thoughts are with all those people who were close to him.

Immobiliser has immobilised my car completely!
I popped round to see my folks yesterday and when I came to drive home I couldn't start my Z, because the immobiliser wouldn't disengage. I tried all three different fobs, all with the same effect (...like none). Even got the AA out and after taking everything apart he could bypass the starter, so that was working, but apparently it's linked in to the fuel line as well(?), so it still wouldn't start. Has anyone had any trouble like this before? Any tips?

Pics of new audio kit, plus my c*ck up!
Someone will definitely be up for one of those though. Surely.

Don't need one as the iPod plugs into it and I can then control it from the head unit. :)

Interior almost finished.....
Not sure about that, the inside of a virgin's thigh would be pretty appealing to me right now, but I have to say you've done a really nice job with that interior. DISCLAIMER: The assumption is that the virgin who owned the thighs would be of legal age for me to be appreciating the inside of them.

Audrey needs surgery
Man that sucks, but at least nobody got hurt. I find my Z a nightmare at the moment. It's ok getting the back out and correcting it, but the front shocks need replacing, so it takes forever for the car to settle down again even when it's pointing in the right direction. It means I have to have a lot more action on the wheel to stop it spearing off in the other direction!

Pics of new audio kit, plus my c*ck up!
I needed to replace the head unit in my Z (check My Rides for what I replaced it with) and due to the previous owner hacking it to pieces I needed to replace the centre console bit that the head unit is mounted behind. The boys at Z-Tech kindly provided me with the brackets I needed, so I just needed the console panel. The head unit is in now and I have a cunning little switch for raising and lowering the arial, which means I don't have to drive around with it up even when I'm listening to a CD, or through the iPod attachment. Sooooo... I bought a console panel from Courtesy in the US and got it shipped over. I (wrongly) thought the only difference was that the clock was on the other side, but it appears that the whole unit is slight skewed as well, so it now doesn't quite fit right and there is a gap on the right-hand side of the pocket where the switch for the arial is mounted (see pic). :headvswal Does anyone know where I can get a new UK unit from (ZCentre don't seem to have it listed on the website) and also who might want a US one (hardly used)?!

Replacing trim
So... I decided it would be a good idea to replace the moulding beside the windscreen, roof and targa tops. All went pretty well, but man there were some rusty screws holding the targas together (I had to take them apart to refit that bit - as someone already posted, this top guide explains how: replacing mouldings ). One @rsey little one had rusted so bad I took the top clean off trying various methods of unscrewing it and have now resorted to drilling the s0d out. But, like the Murpheys, I'm not bitter. I am however only with one half of the roof on the car right now due to having only completed one side. Moral of the story: If you are going to attempt to take something apart, make sure you don't do it on a Sunday afternoon, when every shop that might sell things to help you put it back together is shut. I have now used zinc coated screws (purchased this lunchtime) and judicious amounts of silicon sealant (also purchased this lunctime) to make sure the offending points will never cause me (or anyone else) such grief again. Here endeth the lesson. (apologies for over-use of parenthesis)

Alloys - do I go black???
Maybe that's it. Maybe some kind of subliminal KITT influence is at work here.
-
Alloys - do I go black???
You're right - they look chuffin' great!
-
Alloys - do I go black???
That I can believe. I wonder how many people have cried themselves to sleep at night over that one!

Alloys - do I go black???
Am I right in thinking the optimum sizes are: front 8.5 , tyre size 235/40/18 rear 9.5 , tyre size 265/35/18

Alloys - do I go black???
Yeah, you're probably right. Maybe it's the heat getting to me...
-
Alloys - do I go black???
Ok, so I'm looking to replace the stock alloys my Z has got, probably with some 18" wheels. My Z is black and so I've got this nagging thought in my mind that some black alloys might look good... but then on the other hand there's this other little voice that says regular silver/metallic looking alloys are the safe bet. What do people think? :headvswal

Petrol Pump Problems
Doh! Did you do the classic and rest the cap on top of the car and lose that as well when you drove off?

Finally bought a Z! Help with ICE and re-trim please
Thanks to both of you. I've got some ideas on trim now, I'll have to give Paul a ring. Come on England! :hyper:
