Wow! Thanks for the positive comments all. Didn't think it looked too good in the pic, looks a lot better in the flesh. All your comments over the last week or so have spurred me on to carry on with the project. So injection will be going on first, then the Vortech supercharger and water/methanol injection. In the meantime I want to buy a cheap industrial sewing machine and have a go at the interior. Did it once before in leather, in my Covin 911 turbo replica, but sewed it all by hand and swore I'd never do that again. Then lastly the bodywork will need a once over to get it up to show standard. Never got into showing my cars over the years much, but would be nice to do a few when it's finished. But that's probly 2 years off yet. Just to give you an idea of how my mind works, I'm currently making some small helper silencers to put in between the front and rear boxes to cure a slight boom between 1400 and 1800rpm. Then making some new ally tailpipes as 12 degrees slash doesn't look quite right, needs to be about 17 degrees. Bonkers?......maybe!

Cheers, that's my remit these days, make it look like it could have come out of the factory like it. It seems to handle ok, but I'm only slowly creeping up on the limits of it's cornering power. I've grown up with straight line blasters, this is the first time I've had a car that actually goes round corners.I still haven't come to terms with how much grip there is! According to the ride heights front and rear it seems to have gone up a bit both ends so it's a bit lighter, but probably similar distribution.

I could spend an hour justifying the Chevy over the v6, but I've nothing against the v6, and for the money I've spent you could tune the tt to quiet a high spec. At the end of the day tho' anyone could do that. I've always gone down the unconventional route and done something different.

Approx figures, parts only:- V8 swap, inc.box,clutch,prop,back end,exhaust etc about £8000 Digital dash and centre console £1000 Brakes and suspension £1000 Interior £1000 Spoiler, door fillers, bits and bobs £500 Paid £4500 for the car last year which was a LOT, but bought it cos it was a prestine fresh import. So stands me at over £16000 at the mo' with tyres and normal replacement bits and bobs. What it's value is I've no idea, probably around half that! Took the car off the road for 5 months to do it but that included the digital dash stuff too. Wouldn't recommend it, quite a tricky car to convert.

Don't know any figures for it yet. It was built with supercharging in mind so the cam is quite mild and so would guess in the 300-350hp range. Torque feels good tho' so must be around the 450 mark. The supercharger adds as much as you want really, within reason, depending on how you gear it. Last time I took it to 7psi as that was all the injectors could handle. But it was absolutely flying at that. It is possible to go double that boost but I'd need wider belts and anti belt slip struts and it creates a few more problems I could do without for a road car. I'm sure a s/c could be fitted for less than 5500, but I used all the decent stuff, from memory:- Vortech s/c......1800 serpentine drive system 200 edelbrock tpi inlet 600 emerald ecu 620 big injectors for batch firing 400 big pump 150 boost referenced reg, rails 250 custom plenum 400 crank trigger system 220 filter, hoses,pipes etc 250 twin 58mm throttle body 260 intercooler 300 2 bar map sensor, other sensors, idle valve and motor, wiring, plugs,etc, etc should come to about £5500. Need another laptop too cos mine's bust. What were they supplying for £3900?

Managed a few pics inbetween showers, Everything's working and it goes ok, couple more rattles to source and fix, and need to mod the exhaust slightly as there's an annoying boom at around 1400rpm, although the exhaust is fairly quiet really. Have been replacing some of the stupid rock hard ES poly bushes at the rear, with OE type, to quieten down the diff. Sounded like a 1950's bread van 1st time out. Am contemplating my next step. Part of me wants to add fuel injection and then stick on the supercharger. Another part wants to sell it and start afresh. So, anyone any idea what it might be worth?

I've just finished my 383 Chevy V8 transplant. Got it on the road last month, but was immediately obvious there were some problems. Got it straight back in the garage and went thro it all again. Got it back on the road at the weekend and it's starting to feel somewhere near where I want it. Still some minor niggles, but it's pretty much almost there. My mates think I'm being far too picky, but I won't be happy till it's absolutely nob on. I've done the Chevy conversion a few times on other cars, and the performance is about what I expected, which in road car terms is pretty devastating! The 300 handles the power far better than any previous transplants. Real point and squirt stuff. Anyway, James, I would be very wary of going to a so called 'specialist' and expecting to get a reasonable job at a reasonable price. There must be lots of people who could get the running gear in and driveable, but to make a decent job of it, as a complete package, takes hundreds and hundreds of hours. I spent the first month of the conversion just sorting electrics out, although part of that was for the digital dash install. There's a few people on here who could do it, MantaV8 obviously, but whether they've got time I wouldn't know. I would like to do another conversion myself now mine's almost done, but it would be for myself, and would be a bigger engine this time, maybe a Viper V10 or some V12, maybe BMW 5.0V12 now they're cheap enough. Ok, they probably would'nt be any faster than mine, but it's the challenge and the engineering side which interests me. So, I had half thought about seeing if there was any interest in mine, and at what price etc. Obviously have no idea of your budget, or what spec you require. Mine is all high spec stuff, and is nearly new. Am about ready to photo it and put pics up so keep an eye out if you're interested.

Anyone changed them in the axle shafts, or halfshafts or whatever they're called? Can't remember ever reading anything about them here, and nothing came up in a search. Just wondered how much they were, and what sort of a job it is to change individual joints?
