  1. damn... text didn't work.. 1st Red Zed is a P reg and I sold it to some kid that lived in Swindon. think he might have been of chinese descent. 2nd Black Zed.. left at Ryan's Z-Tech. He 'said' the engine was blown and was going to part it out. it dissappeared along with a set of Gold Brembos and an after-market ECU :( 3rd Gunmetal greay Zed. G-Reg. Impul racing management system. It pulled like a Rhino... seriously the fasted standard tubs Zed I was ever in. Auto. I imagine the tubs blew within 6 months. 4th Skyline GT-st, type M - P reg. sold it to a guy who was going to drift it.. dirfted it the whole test drive... fooking glad he bought it! after that test drive !!?? 5th Shorty, Auto, Black leather.. best example of stock model I ever owned... bummed I sold.. it was a gem. 6th Skline GT-ST - sold to some 'suspect' trader that flew over from Ireland with Irish bank notes... was convinced it was part of dodgy bank robbery at the time ;)
  2. Was just playing around with Photobucket and was curious if any of these are still banging about. Mainly the 3 Zeds. between 2003 - 2006 I imported, drove a while and then sold about a dozen cars from Japan... these are the nissans. Do these look familiar to anyone?
  3. actually... this week is a full 5 day work week for me. with a 7 a.m. start today.. hmm.. might take a long lunch break on Wed / Thurs. I got a digital phone that plugs into ADSL router & VPN tunnels to the phone system for the company I work for in Berkshire. I get normal UK phone rates & all my calls come up with a Maidenhead number... the phone quality sounds like I'm still in Maidenhead. this plus my desktop pc is identical as if I were sitting in the office... Technology actually working!!?? fooking unbelievable. ...now.... all this doesn't mean I'm actually getting any work done!!!??? need to or I'll have no job to come back to
  4. Shop around on the GoPro... I'll find the link where I got mine. Was some sports shop in Scotland... Think I paid more like £200. The Countour (helmet cam) has a much better shape but when you compare videos on youtube, the GoPro is significantly better. I've got a head cam, but shoots better when you hold in your hand ( less shaky! )... Might also have something to do with Light, definitely found that in over-cast the video struggles on the smoothness side in action.
  5. * Not much use for my 300zx out here... anyone want to make a reasonable offer! ;) pic from my balcony a week back... todays video...
  6. SpreadBetting Companies. I've worked with pretty much all of the ones you see Advertise and have put in the programmers who developed the platforms on 2 major companies. They realisation: Everyone Losses Their Money. ok maybe it's only 90%... but their philsophy is that everyone will pretty much lose in the end. So much so that about 4 or 5 years ago most stopped hedging most positions. (They no longer feel is good business to place the oppositve bet of yours and take a small transactional % on every trade ) --Rather, they've realised that most, if not all the guys sticking in £500 or £5000 into their account know fook-all and will lose it all within months, if not sooner. So they are content to be the recipients of your money. In effect when you put a bet on their site, that bet never hits the market. They are taking the risk themselves. IF, you are fortunate enought to double this £5000 or even better... they start watching your trades like a hawk... as, as far as they see it.... you've just taken £5,000, £10,000 from them... etc. remember. Spread Betting is probably the most evil instrument introduced to the Retail Investor... for the sole purpose of separating him from his investment. **I know I probably sound jaded and negative... but I work with investment banks, exchanges and have with spreadbetting firms since 2003. You Can beat these guys.. But you either have to be very, very clever... or Lucky :)
  7. I invested long from '98 to 2008 and did pretty well. as someone said, be patient and what I found is if you spread your investment across a few positions you usually find only one dog in the bunch. anyway... I saw about a 400% return over those 10 years. hmm All your money in one position - bottom line. That is gambling. and just like at the races you could see a handsome return. but just as likely, it could go tits up. Advice. 1. Now that you are up. Run a Stop loss. There is NO Shame in taking a profit, how little it is. I know guys with over $500K in their portforlios who have been in on a winner early in the day. Taken their profits at a $1 gain only to see it go up $4 on the day. Not once do they regret their decision and think "What if"... that would an emotional response. The Professional Trader view is that you traded at a gain. SO... STOP LOSS your profits and don't get greedy. 2. The System is rigged against Retail Investors. Full Stop, whenever MM's can steal your money from you.. they will. They walk prices up and down to grab cheap shares ( on people who set Stop Losses too Tight and also to feign a Run to get people to jump on this Obvious Upward Trend. 3. Do your DD. Come to your own conclusions and come to your own trading strategies. And most importantly stick with your strategy. If you waiver and change with ever turn of the corner.. more often than not you see people chasing losses, sooner than later. --try looking at iHub for information. Also SA ( Seeking Alpha ). Be aware though that as nice & helpful as many you will meet on places like iHub.. you never know what their real motives are. So take EVERYTHING you read from other posters and many times Analysts as well, with a pinch of salt. Good Luck to you and I hope you make a killing. Remember you are only really "up" when you sell for a profit. Paper Gains are worthless until you realise that gain by selling that gain.
  8. oops... as non member I can't edit (Delete!) inappropriate and spontaneous comments! Doh.
  9. hmmm... not one suggestion to go with the lower of the two.... quite dissapointing ;)
  10. I'm packing it in, bought a season ski pass and moving to the 3 Valleys of France for the winter..... so the prospect of snow & lot's of it... is music to my ears ;)
  11. Hey Pablito... get in touch... there's a free round of golf at my place for you. I'll even play off of 13 to give you a chance to win some petrol money for the journey.... need to do it before end of October as the vouchers they gave me are only good until then... Can't seem to send you a PM. Rob
  12. Hi Curley. I've found that with reasonable driving a track day isn't too bad on tyres.. i.e. it's not s set a day etc. if I started with new tyres I'd expect to get 5day+ out easily. If you stick to racing lines and stay away from getting sideways.. have the right pressure in your tyres etc. You'll find they look a it sticky at the end of the day and probably a Mil or 2 at an extreme (on edges) down. I've got extra sets of alloys, tyres for my cars and have taken a set out before with the explicit intention of wearing them down to the point of binning the tyres afterwards... always dissappointed how little I destroyed them, even though I tried very hard. someone can correct me here, if they've experienced different.
  13. Silverstone are running their own open track days and have 2 planned on the International Circuit. (which is the old Southern circuit with newly built/refurbished pit & paddock areas. Supposed to be pretty nice. ) Saturday June 18th Friday July 15th £299 per car & Driver. £60 for an additional Driver. price includes Breakfast/Lunch and around 7 hours of open track in an open pit lane format. There will be up to 40 cars there on the day. 20 minutes of Driver training goes for £20. I know sounds pretty pricey, but it's Silverstone... I'm fairly limited as my Car is Trailer-only / SORN now... so as it's close, I'm there. I've posted this on a few forums, If there is enough interest, we might get some sort of discount. Regardless I'm planning for the 18th. let me know if there is any interest here. I've got a surpluss of track day Camera's + mounts... so we should be able to get some good Follow-cam / chase cam style footage on selected laps. if there is interest.. :)
  14. Yep... still don't know which mine is... but can say it's as easy to use as an everyday clutch, as well. So sounds like it's the same. That HKS triple-plate I had was mentally stiff. such a fine line between on/off. Great at speed, but tough at traffic lights! (except on full-launch!)
  15. yep Jimmer. two sides to every story and we rarely see/aknowledge the other! I gave it a good rant yesterday and it was pulled within minutes. I left a friendly one today... as it's the only way forward. Never know when you'll need it, in the future. Thanks for the heads up on my Injectors/ O2 sensor. Will look into that. *you planning on any track sessions this summer? I kind of like the idea of nighttime 1/2 session... cooler air etc.
  16. yeah... I toned it down in the end and edited out where I challenged him to bet on a track or Karting day :) figured it wasn't a very mature 1st post on their forum. better to defuse emotion than to purpetuate it. ...a couple people on there sent me a PM saying that it's all for fun and you're supposed to give it 'some. & that some of their guys get a bit big-headed don't we all.
  17. when it comes to footage.... more the merry'ier would be great to find some punter who was shooting from the stands who puts it online..
  18. \hey Murt... think you'll find some more in here. is that you from 3:00 onwards?
  19. .. f*ck him. who ever he is. I was just playing around on first laps I ever had in this car.. figuring out reactions, boost on bends etc. I agree it could have been a little smoother.. got it more dialed on subsequent laps a Kn*b on the track? - yep... probably a little guilty on that one, for the fact there are others on the track. video is misleading on distances, though. every time i kicked it out, it was on cue and away from others.. and no one complained or even had witty comments for the hours we stood around afterwards. ... so didn't think it was too bad..
  20. Was that a modified Zed? I just cancelled mine within the 14 days as there was a Zero refund policy if I sold the car. It was £775 for 5,000 miles. planning on getting my £215 road tax back and trailer it to any track sessions. That £1,000 was unjustifiable for a 4th car that gets around 500 miles a year use.
  21. Hey Jimmer... I actually ripped some tread off those poor tyres... literally peeling off from near the sidewall !! but... they were freebees that came with the alloys I bought on ebay. Continentals at that! I cut off the dangly bits and got back home fine. yep... have done quite a bit of sideways driving in my years ( grew up in the snow ). and a few track days in the UK. This was the first ( of many, hopefully ) in my Zed. I actually thought it was pretty twitchy driving and was a little embarrassed I didn't make smoother transitions out of the slides. I also got told off when I left the track :) There's a good video that I found, that I just posted... but unfortunately he fell behind before I really got going ;) ** let me know if you have any opinion on the black puffs out of my left bank... I just posted a thread in "helps and advice" TIA
  22. Didn't know him.. and it was just by chance I got in his way ;) but checking his profile on the Zed Club... he's got a 350 roadster.. guy named martinmac from lake district. correction..guy named Captain from Bristol way shot the video and posted the comments. Not martinmac, though he's a mod on their forum.
  23. Ok..can't figure the embed bit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwhnHEMey5U&feature=youtube_gdata So, although i didn't know it at the time, I was in front of someone who was video'ing. ignore the erratic/twitchy driving style... it was my first time out in the Zed on the track and was testing it a bit and also looking to find some sideways action when I could. ;) shame he didn't keep up... the next couple laps I really let loose ;) **Anyway... any thoughts on the Black puffs that come on heavy boost?? coming from the Left bank... Places you can see it the most: seconds in - 1:30, 2:29, 3:12... and then the pass I make at 3:25... I even get a bit of burn-off out the left bank. I know it's not major, but any Thoughts on a diagnosis??
  24. Well... Considering the story of the demise of Chris's Ztech... The fact he worked with you to get your car and the fact you have all the bits... I wouldn't be surprised if he mostly considers "job done" It's like when someone owes you Money. The reality is that with ever month that passes, the less they actually think they own you the money ( STRANGE, THAT??? )... anyway years down the road it's like a huge, huge, huge favour they are doing you to give you even a portion of the money. 85% of the time you will never get anything back, despite promises.... too much time has passed. When Ryan went down, I had a similar phone call from him (Come get your car before it's gone). I was there the next day. When I asked where my Gold Brembo's, my Nismo bumper, + some other bits were??? I got a blank stare.. and a "better take what you can now" I'm pretty happy with what I got ( the car in my picture below )... it could have easily dissappeared in parts. I know one guy lost his whole car... I had seen it down there a month earlier, and took a ride in it, (Red one with a loud as F*ck and fast as F*ck power plant ) but... it was a victim of Ryan stripping it and giving parts to other people he owed money to. SO. AT least you have your car and it's bits... Need to find a new place to do the work TBH. I imagine both Chris and Mick have now closed this chapter. Just my Opinion based on 20 years of dealing with small businessmen and their trials/tribulations of making a go of it. Tuning Garages are one of the worst offenders. imo **I know I said good things about Chris (above)... but temper it with the fact that I was practically customer Number1 for him after he gave Ryan £10,000 for the ZTECH BRand and some crap lying around the shop. !!!!??????!!??!? -= fool. He knew I had got ripped off a bit by Ryan and went way out of his way to make it right in the hope to revampt the ZTech Reputation. I always told him that I'd say great things about ZTech for this service. ** and Hey... 3 years on... the rebuilt top-end is holding together pretty well... even under 534bhp. .... although it you look at the video from Japfest, I'm about to post... it's the left Bank he rebuilt that seems tob e giving off a lot of black smoke under heavy boost ..... :whistling:
