  1. on my '91 TT, the calipers are black with silver lettering, lacquered bare metal. they look original, i don't think they've been re-painted. the marks you can see on the letters are machine marks.
  2. can't make it to any shows at the minute, i'm lucky if i can manage to get one day off work a week. if they don't find me an asst mgr soon i'll be looking for a new job
  3. was checking if the fluid was burnt again. i think the pick-up filter is getting blocked again, as it occasionally drops out of gear. i've parked it out the way untill i can get it sorted. unfortunately it means i have to take the train to work, although it is cheaper.
  4. you missed off drum 'n' bass
  5. they've had pallets of the things in the local sainsbury's
  6. well thats next years holiday decided...
  7. pmsl. and victoia helped him with the spelling...
  8. i think this one sums up this countries rail service. http://www.boreme.com/boremerigid/funny-2006/london-underground-p1.php
  9. a mate has just fitted one of these to his skyline, with the optional boost module. your looking at £500 just for the unit. set-up is usually the same again, so buget for about £1000 all in.
  10. i have a jap system on the car, stainless steel from turbos back, 1 cat each side, then joins into a small silencer, then into single backbox. i'm definately going to get the small silencer removed in the future, i would like to decat because of the performance gains, but concerned about the standard tubs. the car has done 33500 miles, i'm first uk owner with no history for car. all performance mods, except exhaust & bov's, removed before import. i think i'll save up for new tubs before i do the decat, then i won't be fooked if the tubs die.
  11. think i'll give it a miss.
  12. i read that they cause premature wear on the gearbox, is this true?
  13. sorry, i'll have to wait for the mods to remove it. nevermind.
  14. if anyone's interested, its an '05 Specialized Enduro Expert. its on ebay, click here i'll accept £1200 cash, as i need a quick sale. email: peter@peterrenwick.wanadoo.co.uk with any questions. i know its not posted in the right place, but i can't post in 'for sale'. moderators:- feel free to remove post if its against club rules etc...
  15. do a search for the problem. i don't want to take the risk of killing the turbos, but would like to make the exhaust less restrictive. hence, can i replace the cats with silencers?
  16. beckham ain't that stupid, he made himself £37m last year, using the talent he's got and sponsorship. you've got to respect the fact that he's made something of himself. and if you had that sort of money to play with you'd be buying allsorts of expensive cars, i know i would. ps. i don't like football and have no interest in the sport.
  17. I know there's the issue of removing the cats causing the turbos to fail prematurely, but would it be a possible solution to remove the cats and replace them with silencers instead, to try and maintain a small amount of backpressure to help protect the turbo seals whilst still gaining some of the advantages of a less restrictive exhaust system.
  18. would a set of 18" ultralites from a R32 GTR fit?
  19. i won't be racing my mates subaru sti, its got well over 450bhp and it cruises at 175mph with about 2-3000 rpm to go
  20. metal ones won't expand under boost pressure, whereas the silicon ones will expand (even samco). because the silicon pipes expand they will help smooth out boost spikes, ideal if you're using boost jets or a bleed valve. if you're running a proper boost controller then go for hard-pipes
  21. you could change just the springs, but the ride and handling will be crap and it will soon wear out the dampers. you'd be much better off leaving the suspension as it is and saving for the proper set-up
  22. no, got enough just washing my own cars
  23. cleaned every 9 weeks. who's going to do it the other 8???
  24. why?? boost jets are very inaccurate and amplify boost spikes, which can/will damage the engine. i also doubt that you'd be generating exactly the same amount of boost pressure from either turbo, which would also harm the engine. a decent electronic boost controller is designed to prevent boost spikes giving a constant boost pressure, and also giving you control over the amount of boost created, rather than just sticking a jet in and hoping for the best. personally i wouldn't fit boost jets, there's too much that could go wrong. if necessary buy a second hand boost controller, thats what i'm doing till i can afford a Power FC
