  1. The kerb lights are NOT the side lights, at least on mine they are not, they are a seperate unit. As I said earlier, my side lights are in the same unit as the front fogs.
  2. I have had cars which do this even though the bulbs are all OK, I ended up changing the bulbs one by one until I found a lazy one and it was OK.
  3. Further, your side lights are in the front fog lights, which are further towards the middle of the car.
  4. I have a'93 import. When the lights are on, and you indicate the same side front "kerb light" comes on. This is supposed to do this, I have had soarers do the same. Is that what you mean? OR do you have a mix up with the wires in thais area maybe?
  5. Same theme, slightly different subject. I read a report on Optimax. They ran 3 cars, an M3, XJR and something normal I think. Checked all 3 with a camera down the plug hole etc, tested for speed and MPG. All cars were faster, more mpg. Jag a lot cleaner inside, M3 was spotless in the first place so no difference. Conclusion was it works.
  6. Take it all with a pinch of salt and calm down. :-) BUT, you started it by calling autos "very dull". Now , everyone knows that any decent 300zx is never, ever very dull, or dare I say it, dull at all. Is'nt this fun? And it is also a fact that the difference in speed is not that great. look at the figures. But I guess a super driver needs those few tenths of a second. I really wouldnt know. It would be interesting to put two standard Z'z together, one auto and one manual, and see quite what the difference is in real conditions. As for personal preferance, thats another thing, and we cant question anyone for that. If you want to start calling peoples cars very dull, which is hardly realistic, you need to be ready for the replies. Have nice day, LOL......
  7. Should have replied sooner but have been very busy, sorry. Anyway, I have bought a set of front and back, Mintex, the fronts were £24.00 and the place is local. Thanks again. For info oly the rears were only slightly more money.
  8. If the difference is fairly small, and an auto is very dull, that means that a manual is just dull. What a shame. I thought I liked 300z's..... Noww I will have to sell it as it is a very dull car and swapping it for a manual will only remove the "very"......
  9. The other thing that no body has mentioned is to get an auto to go about as quick as it can is fairly easy, and very consistent. On the other hand to get the best out of a manual takes a bit more skill, and is almost never as consistent. Assuming average+ skill. And as we get more and more congestion an auto makes more sense, and is a lot quicker to go from cruise to max as all you have to do is stamp on the gas. In an everyday sense an auto is as quick, but anyway where and how often can you use the difference? Drive both and choose what you fancy, because the performance difference is not really an issue, (to me anyway).
  10. Hi, Mine is a series 2, TT +2, auto in black, Novemeber 1993 manufactured, imported myself so have the Jap dereg, invoice etc. 50000 miles Momo wheel with cruise. 17inch split rim alloys, sensible aftermarket exhaust, very clean. And I mean nice. Not messed with. Will be L registered so is quite a late one fopr over here. if you bent my arm you could buy it for the same money, (after it has been SVA'ed and MOT'd). So how cheap does that make yours?
  11. Couldnt agree more, trouble is the jobsworth in charge of doing SVA's is not able to pass brake lights as fogs, (according to the SVA centre) and I too have had cars pass mot's with brake/fogs etc. BUT, if it fails the sva thats it. I hung a great big ugle fog light from the bottom of the rear bumper, I had to drill one hole, and unless you lie on th floor you wont see it when I remove the fog light for a "nicer" one, and this was OK for the SVA. You have to play by their rules. One other thing, you must have a full tank of fuel too, and I mean full, not nearly full......
  12. For the SVA, ie less than 10 years old, my car needed the following, Front indicators not visible at 45 degrees from opposite side of car. Tyres, Jap Spec tyres are NOT illegal, however to pass the SVA they need the JS logo, and they need to have a speed AND load rating. Speedo, Must not read slow, even by 1mph, but allowed to read up to, I think, 70mph at an actual 57mph. They do not like stickers on the speedo face. Not saying they would fail it but they dont like them. Steering wheel, if not standard and alloy has to have gentle curves on the edges, my Momo just passed. Brakes, have to pass an engine stopped test, Jap pads are too hard, so I have been told. Repeater indicators must be fitted. Fog light. NOT LESS then 250mm from the floor, but they want 260mm from the floor really. No brake light re-wires etc are any good. Any loose wires which might get caught or rub through = fail. Exhaust, mine has after market pipes, noiser than standard but not bad, mine passed at 85db, amount before fail is 105db. Which is noisy. On top of this, any thing else that an MOT test would look at. They are FUSSY. They want any mods to be to manufactures standard. They even looked into the wheel bolt holes to check to see that the bolts were correct. Although how just looking and not removing them told them anything I dont know. Cant think of anything else. Hope this helps. Forget what someone else said about jap tyres being ilegal, they have to have the right spec though. Mark

I concur, (is that spelt correctly?).. It makes a change for some sense to be written about oil's....having said that there will be some which better suit the Z than others. I dont know which though. IMHO
  14. Also I need some rear pads as well, just in case, thanks. Mark
  15. Thanks Aarron, how much for the pads inc post, I live in Aylesbury. As for the write up on the SVA, yes I thought I might offer. It's really a matter of knowing how they think, (which is cockeyed) but of course you only know that by watching and asking questions. How do I do this write up thing then? As in where do I send it? Mark
  16. I thought of that, roughing up the pads, but its £30.00 each time it fails, so I might as well put that to some pads and be safe, ish. Thanks.
  17. Hi, I think I need some SOFT brake pads for the SVA. I say this because of the stupid way they test the brakes, ie engine off etc, and I need them to grab cold and well without the servo.. Any ideas...?
  18. I had this happen to me too, came across a big fat git leaning into is micro van and marking my car with his open door. I pushed him so hard he fell into the floor well on the passenger side, head first, and looked like he was well and truly stuck. And then I took his keys from the ignition and threw them over the hedge. Mark
  19. 45, but I have had the car since I was 44. LOL. Nice '93 japTT Auto
  20. Hi, just put my Z through its SVA, it failed, actually on several stupid things, how about the front indicators are no good because they cant be seen at a 45 degre angle from the opposite side to which they are flashing??? As if it matters. Solution? to pack they out a bit so they can be seen. (And of course remove the packing when its passed.) If any one wnats some recent experience on the SVA just drop me a line. Brakes, it failed because with the engine off and the servo empty at a certain pedal pressure it only had 28% of some figure they came up with, so I need new pads, apparently Jap ones are harder and so need a touch more effort. What do you guys suggest? make, type, and cost and from where please. I need to do front and back. The brakes with the engine on were good. Also, the UK clocks gave an error of 2mph down, they said this was very good. Thanks
  21. wesmi01, you really sound like you know what you are doing. No wonder there are some bad Zeds around. Shame on you.
  22. Had the same prob with an FTO, so sorry if it is different but I had to remove the cowl, trim around the steering column, and there was a cable (I think) connected to the brake pedal, this was out of adjustment but could be tweeked with the trim off. Again sorry if this is of no help. Mark
  23. I have not even SVA'd my 93 auto jap tt yet so cant really speak about the performance as I have not driven it far. But my friend has a uk turbo Supra (6 speed) and it would eat my zx.. And before you all rip into me I accept my car has not run far etc etc and dont know if it is in tune but it looks and sounds healthy. Mark
  24. Hi All, I also dont agree with the stikes, but our looney government would just ignore the Firmen if they didnt strike. So, in reality what choice do they have? Of course, if all of the Firemen were imigants they would get £40k pa. And they wouldnt even have to speak English. I just wonder how bad this country will get before we do something about it and kick out all of the stupid politians..... Revolution anyone?
  25. I was going to suggest doing the mileage too, auto boxes should last far longer than 17K, it was not rebuilt properly so dont feel bad if you do clock it.
