  1. which fan is supposed to continue to run if its not the big belt driven one on the front of the block?
  2. I noticed this a while back but ignored it, Is this the one that runs a fan once the engine is off to stop it from cooking?
  3. Ok just checked and the one im missing is the sub fan reley. Any ideas?
  4. Is that what the viscous fan does? Runs after you cut the engine to stop it overheating once off? If so i dont think mine works as i watched the water temp get upto 100c after turning the engine off the other day. Im also missing a fan reley from the engine compartment fuse box, could this have anything to do with it?
  5. yup mine is but a lot heavyer! Bubbles all over the place.
  6. Anyone got a decent non oem spolier for sale? mine is rubbish!
  7. I have a stock rad and my water temp is normally between 70c and 80c on my aftermarket gauge. I was driving to work today in very hot weather keeping a steady 90mph, and i noticed it was reading about 82c which is hotter then normal. I then slowed down as I got into town and it dropped back down to its normal 75c what are the normal operating temps of a Z?
  8. i fitted one on my rover (different I know) but it was well worth it made a big difference to the overall feel of the car - i can always put the oem one back if i have probs
  9. I'd take it back mate - quick!
  10. yeah on the rover the shifter itself goes in from the bottom and you have to move the exhaust to get at it. On the z kit you get the round plate part that looks like its holds the shifter in place from above (with the two 10mm looking hols for bolts). The auction states that they dont come with any insructions so i though i would ask on here first. If this is the case and its just held on by a couple of bolts from the top then should be easy and ill buy one in a min! PS. Does the center console have to come off or can you get at it without dismantaling it.
  11. I fitted a short shifter to my old rover 620ti and it made a huge difference to the general driving experience. I'm looking to do the same with my z and I'm gonna buy a short shift kit pretty soon. When I got the one for the rover I was quoted 20min fitting time and it took me well over 2 hours! Exhaust and gear linkage all had to come off! (Was well worth it tho). Has anyone fitted such a kit to their z? How long did it take and I take it its all gonna have to be done from underneith? My Z is a little more difficult to get under than a rover! There are 2 short shift kits for the 300zx on ebay at the mo, one cheaper one at £27.95 start and one at £45 buy it now, the more expensive one is listed as JDM, fully chromed and comes with a new gear knob so I might pay the extra and get that one unless anyone knows any better? Thanks, Ed

What did it for me was that my passanger side skirt had an argument with a low kerb when i was in a rush to get parked at work - great start to the day (head in hands moment)! Good as new now but only because I was able to keep it off the road while filling and repainting my skirt. Ps I work 22miles from home so 50 quid a week on fuel doesnt include the weekends! Cant beat a cheap run about, what makes it even better is that when you go from 1.3 fiesta back to the z, it makes the z feel extra fast so you dont get that "my car isnt so fast thing" after a few months of getting used to power.

i drove my z to work and back every day for 2 weeks - cost me over 100 quid in fuel alone and I can only get into the smaller of the 2 car parks as the main one has a stupid ramp at the entrance! I bought a 200 quid fiesta to get to work and now I can get air down the ramp into the car park when im late without caring! Also no more rushing jobs on the z for the drive to work the next day. - Good move in imo.
  14. 20 quid well spent then! thanks all
  15. Are start motors the same on TT and NA cars? Also are they the same on Jap and UK cars? Need to know as i just bought a starter from an NA for my TT. £20 from ebay (says it works) so bargain either way. Thanks, Ed
  16. any ideas anyone on what size the thread is?
  17. so what cables do i need and where can i get them? Thanks, Ed
  18. where can i get a red one and how much are they? PS my car passed the mot fine with the factory green one installed
  19. most of them are 1/8 but arnt jap cars metric?
  20. do you know the thread size of the oem sender?
  21. i think its all used driving the alternator to power all the electrics mate!
  22. Also is there a Mac version or just pc? Thanks
  23. Can i get a cable from you? How much are they?
