I think you may have to bite the bullet here,as i had a near simlar problem that i posted about 18 months back,but luckily i found out,check what your insurance schedule says,and any other documents,if it does not say Import anywhere then i would not push it to far with them,if it says Fairlady Z then you ok as that in itself denotes that its an Import ,it seems as though yours has ins for UK Model but is an Import so technicaly they would if clued up enough would be in there rights to not pay out,if what they are saying is true about the car then all this time you have been using it with NO legal ins,if you were to say take it further,you will find that at the end of the day its your responsability to check all documents are correct when taking out insurance,we all sign and return copy of schedule agreeing to the ins. There are some bad insurers out there who say yea yea we can insure your 300zx,even imports,so you say great mine is an import,they give you what seems great quote,send you the schedule,you sign and send back,but have you read it properly,does it say Import or Fairlady Z,then god forbid big accident,your stuffed :( So tread carefully! Powerflow have a place in Coventry,when you say rattle where exactly,had a good awfull rattle like blowing/banging rattlin,turnend out was centre heat shields had come loose when system was dropped to do box.
