Andy, are you sure what you read wasn't about redline MTL as this is what used to be recommended but is the incorrect weight?

Yes unfortunately the caliper won't let the disc intrude any further so the pad doesn't get full contact and a lip is formed.

I think even with the 315 disc it doesn meet the pad fully so it just creats a lip on the pad.

One problem you may run into is that the pad will have less of the disc touching it and will develop a lip.
