Hi Eddie, Sorry to hear about your engines demise, when I was looking at pistons, two were two makes that seemed to be good value! The JE pistons that seemed to be very strong but you apparantely get a lot of piston slap due to low tolerance levels! Or arias pistons who have a UK branch, they sell the pistons with rings, gudgeon pins etc., for 90 + vat each and meant to be good quality with less piston slap than the JE, they also make pistons for Jim wolf. I have heard Jaylox can get a good deal on tomei or jun pistons! By the way when fitting forged pistons, unless you go for the jun or tomei that have the oil channels built in, it is advisable to use the oil squirters from a NA engine!

Hello, Ok I shall put all wind ups aside and try to give an objective view! The HKS/Denso Plugs (same thing except HKS are more expensive) are more resistant to heat, but there is concern that produce the spark at the wrong point in the chamber, due to its shorter reach! As you increase the boost there is obviously more need to place the spark in the middle of the chamber to create a more even combustion! Or the increased turbulences will mean that the start of the combustion in the chamber will be uneven, because the turbulence will move the combustion from the central point! Just like a windy day moves a bonfire about. The PFR6B-11B was commisioned by Nissan USA for cars with increased boost and tuning, it has a longer reach which does place the combustion point centrally in the chamber but it is not as heat resistant as the Irridium plug! Tuning is not perfection it is a question of compromises and balance, the HKS/denso plug was designed for Japanese 103 octane fuel with higher combustion temps and the 11b was designed for USA fuel with 95 octane. Whereas Optimax is 98.6 a middle ground! Quite often it involves debating about shades of grey, and the only answer is to get two identical cars and put them on a rolling road! And then if you change one of the tuning parameters you have to do the test all over again! If you still can't choose I suggest a decision making course!

Well it is better to find out what you have got first, then build upon that after a reliable major service! If you have any weak points in your car then tuning it further will advance their failure!

I bought some parts back from the states last time I was there, the security guy at the airport seemed to imply that it was ok that the parts were in my main luggae and not in my hand luggage! I think they were worried about items being used as weapons on the planes! They still opened my main luggage and had a look and nicked some things!

Hello Mate, Well good news for you so far! You probably already know this but run the car on Optimax, it is the highest octane fuel readily available, 98.6 I believe! The chip is probably designed to run on 103 octane Jap fuel! Also have a look at your plugs, at lot of Jap cars have plugs not designed for our lower octane fuels, so check out the Spark Plug Debates that have been going on and make up your own mind.
