Back again, but not for good!
Thanks for the kind words guys. I really have held out for as long as possible, trying to convince myself that I would eventually find time, but it's just not going to happen. I have had a sniff on it already without the add, so I'll see where that goes. I just hope that someone builds it rather than breaks it.

Back again, but not for good!
I can't believe that I have been an owner since 2006, I must be old!! I have signed back up again, but it is not for good things this time. I have tried my best to hold on to my beloved for as long as I can, but work and kids have me at the point where I know that I am never going to get the time (and money) I need to put it back on the road. I hate to do it, and I have resisted for a very long time, but a "For Sale" add will be coming soon. :crying: Alex.

My quarter mile time
I was there and saw your porker running but obviously didn't know it was you. I had the R6 there on Saturday and ran an 11.316 @ 128.9 mph and on Sunday I was in the Zed with my best being a 13.589 @ 108.9 mph. A bit disappointed as I was a tad quicker last year but it was hot and the car hasn't really gone anywhere in the past 12 months. I was hoping to run against Henry but on my 6th run it dropped a coil apck just before the start, cut back in again and when I got into 3rd gear it went again and then dropped another one so I was running on 4!!!!! Still beat the guy next to me though and did a 13.91. Decided that was enough and trundled home.

Who's going for a drive on deserted roads tomorrow?
That'll be me then. I'll be out on the R6 as the zed still needs surgery.:cool2:

Happy Birthday Al's on 19's
Cheers guys. I had a fantastic day, BBQ was fired up for the first time this year after a garden make over that I've been doing for a while. No Zed related gifts this year but I did get some lovely carbon fibre for the R6. :cool3:

Tonight : The Le Mans 1955 Disaster
I happened across this last night and thought it was very good. I was aware of the accident before but not any of the facts that surrounded it, the footage and stills are unbelievable!!!!!! I couldn't get my head around why they kept racing, must've been a very hollow victory.

Beyond repair?
Cheers for that Jeff, I know it's difficult to quote by picture so it was just a rough idea to see if it would be economically viable for me to repair. I let you know if I want to send it your way, just a shame your a little way away.
-
Beyond repair?
Cheers for the info peeps, I'll investigate a little further before I decide whether to strip it for parts. Does anyone have a link to the repair panels? I can't seem to find them. Jeff - seeing as you have done the exact same job before, roughly how much would I be looking at to get it back to the pre paint stage? Cheerz.
-
Beyond repair?
Looked quite bad to me as the hole on the drivers side is about a foot long and there is no sill left at all to weld anything to. I'd be needing inner, outer and arch panels for both sides so is it an economical repair? I can't weld so I'd have to pay to have done but the paint I'm not so worried about as I've got someone thatw ould be able to help me out with that.

Beyond repair?
I went to the warehouse today to start on what was supposed to be a complete brake overhaul and some paint prep. It turns out that I have a bit of a larger problem with rust than I first thought.............. Drivers side Passenger side What do you think then, repairable? Or should I just break it and sell for parts? I'm gutted as I had it on a RR in Feb and made 376bhp so I know the engine is good and having bought all kinds of bits and pieces an the last 18 months it could all have been a waste of time.:cursing:

Multi vehicle insurance

Multi vehicle insurance
At the moment in our house (me and the other half) we run 3 cars and 2 bikes and pay for all the insurances individually. I am on the look out for a MK1 VW Caddy at the moment too (might have found one) and I'm thinking that there must be a way of having one policy that covers everything without needing to be a trader. Is there such a thing?

Removing headlamp glass how......
When I did mine I think it was 10 mins in the oven at gas mark 5. Just need to check them regularly to make sure they're not getting too hot, once up to temp they just come right apart.

Eurovision - Your Country Needs You
I was unfortunately subjected to some of that shite last night. If that is the best talent they could muster (from what I saw) then, clucking bell, this country has no chance at all. It reminded me of kareoke or cabaret, not good at all, sooooooooooooo out of tune and pitchy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which discs and pads?
Cheers for the info. Deffo won't be going for the DS2500's as I don't want to destroy my discs instantly even though I know they are very good. I've had porterfields before and was quite happy with them, maybe the stillens could be worth a bash. The discs are a deffinate stumbling block though as the combo is gonna cost me over £400 and that won't leave me enough in the pot to get my front tyres sorted (which I will need for the track as I've got new toyos on the rear and kumhos on the front). What to do, what to do?

Which discs and pads?
I'm looking for suggestions for replacements for my front brakes, currently running standard Brembo discs and mintex 1144 pads but these have now expired. I'm not looking for a big brake upgrade as my pockets are not that deep (I had considered selling the car until very recently) and I have had a look at what Dan sells as I trust him. The car doesn't have a lot of use, maybe 3000 miles a year max but I have the chance of doing a trackday next month so would like something that would survive a day (ish) of abuse. being a track day virgin I doubt very much whether I would be pushing it that hard anyway. Your thoughts please.

World Superbikes are back.
Watching it live at silly o'clock in the morning was just a stretch to far, I'll be watching at 9.00. Haslam is looking very comfortable and could be one to watch along with Fabrizio and Rea this season, I think that Haga has had is day but will be around the top.:scooter:

Horn goes off on it's own?!?!?!?!?
I've had this problem for years but just haven't done anything about it. I only put the fuse in for the MOT and take it out afterwards as it randomly goes off (in the middle of the night usually:censored:). Is there somewhere in particular I should be looking for the fault? I've done the push button end already (still went off?!?!?!), could it be the relay in the drivers footwell?
