My 300 will refuse to start, it turns but wont fire up.

I removed the fuel pump fuse and cranked it over in case the the engine was fludded

put the fuse back in and it seemed to make no difference apart from I could hear a short buzzing sound when i turned the key but still would not start.

It feels like it out of fuel but the pump is still buzzing????????

Blockage in the fuel lines perhaps?Clean out your Fuel Filter too might help :) Bad fuel can block it up over time!

Its got a new fuel filter on it

The plugs are dry but spell of fuel

I wish it ticked over, so dont know about a fuel smell on tickover.

I thought it was electrical but when it broke down the other day the fuel pump started buzzing every minuite or so just when the ignition was on.

But strangly i got it started last wednesday and it ran fine then came out on thursday and nothing. so odd.

Most intermittent problems like that are electrical. Check for sparks on all plugs.

oops, I didnt notice so I could do with getting someone to have a sniff at the pipes when I turn it over.

If it does smell of fuel I guess that means the fuel supply is ok....?

Yeah I will do.

Im waiting on a new PTU so it could just be that, fingers crossed!

Mine is still running the 1990 p1 so I hope its just that thats packed in.

if you have a spark then its not your PTU ?

remove a coil pack and plug then put the plug in the coil pack and plug it back into the wire on the car so connect the coil pack and rest it on the engine ! turn the engine over and see if the plug sparks ?

had this same problem the other month.

clean the PTU, the temp sensor, and the Crank angle sensor (CAS)

the PTU is a square box on the left cam cover, (underneath the intercooler pipe) has 2 connectors each side going to it.

mine was filty with grime.

the temp sensors, 2 of them, are on the silver pipe that goes from the radiator to the engine.

then the CAS is on the right cam cover, 1 connector going to it.

my temp sensors & CAS looked clean, but gave them a clean anyway.

check the PTU i would, loads of green grime on there, scrape it off with a sharp knife, then wire wool it back to bronze colour. also sprayd a little WD40 and kitchen rolld it dry too.

fired first time then!!!
