Just taken the Z out for a bit of a blast, whilst I still like the car a lot and it feels as good now as it ever has, it just doesn't seem to give me the same buzz it did when I first got it.

I know it's one of those things. Like when you meet a new girl and you're at it like rabbits until it almost becomes one of those things you do to pass the time and release stress.

I don't know whether I've had enough of throwing money at it. Maybe I've run out of things to do with it. Maybe it's because the weather is cold and I actually prefer driving it with the roof off. Maybe I fancy something more modern without the squeaks and rattles of an 18 year old sports car. Maybe I just fancy something different all together?

I couldn't sell it. A: I'd not get anywhere near what I'd want for it, B: I just don't want to see it get into the wrong hand and C: I just couldn't part with it.

Just need to get excited by the car again. I don't think any amount of engine work and boost upgrades would really give me the buzz again. I dunno

/thoughts.

feb trip to dam!

Would Love to, but cant commit to something like that at moment :(

The one I drove had NO turbo and NO PAS. A pure travesty of motoring!

christ no pas or turbo that must've been crap that's like puttin 20 bags of sand in the boot of your leon and another 5 on the bonnet

At least you can drive yours LOL I've done 3 miles in mine, I have'nt had the chance to get bored of it.

That's what I did tonight! LOL

go on push the boat out go out in the rain:rofl: that will get your heart fluttering again when the back end goes out. the feeling afterwards when you catch it is better then any illegal substances

We loaded it up! The pedal was flat to the floor for almost 6 hrs!

There is that. It's been very reliable! I haven't had it rested up with no engine or anything for ages.

dont know what to say mate although i would say it seems to be related to something else in your mind, seeing as you also mention the missus and the job. keep the Z, one day soon you'll be glad you did.

No it's not. The day I picked the thing up it was pouring with rain. I remember driving onto the M25 and as I was getting on to the roundabout underneath it, I was sat behind a Fiesta (probably driven by Indian_ZX ;) ) dawdling along, went into the outside line and just dabbed the accelerator and whop, the back end breaks free. My bum hole was pulsating as I fishtailed up the road. Luckily I corrected and all was OK, but it ain’t a good car for driving in the wet!

BOTH! Salt and shite are the main thing. I just don't enjoy driving in the rain. Who does? You can't use the car to its potential.

no but speed isnt what its all about. control is a great thing to learn and driving a z in the rain can give you just that. admittedly i dont enjoy it as much but i do like it when i get a little flutter and am able to correct it. closest thing for me to living on the edge. ;):p

I know that which is why I spent nearly about a grand on new suspension. :)

Different driving characteristics driving an NA to a TT which is why I've always seen the appeal in NAs. I'm not and never have been a TT snob. I think the NA is a better drivers' car for things like driving in the wet and on the track.....BUT, I love it when you catch the TT just right as it spools up and you get that amazing whoosh of boost.

Atrocious spelling!

the trouble is si you spend more time talking about it then driving it. your passion is the rootin tootin US OF A where they can drive all the time due to the different weather. your not happy in this country and always have somthing negative to say about it/ your not happy with your girlfriend / job. you dont have any real ties here so follow your heart and move to the us. take the z and enjoy everything you want!

problem solved LOL

LOL! If only it was that easy!

Actually, I'm always trying to stick up for this country and how fortunate we are....if you read my posts. :)

I just been out in the Z, it was extremely wet and the back end was sideways everywere, the even scarier part was on one juntion the front started sliding!!!!

How do you all lose it in the wets, i have only once when i had slicks on. i even drove it in the snow in winter and never had a twitch??

your not giving enough beans then. Every zed ive driven is easy to break traction, especially in the wet

More like you are giving it to much and are driving incorrect for the conditions. you could say the same for any rwd.

Any monkey could get one to slide ;)

Well that's it. I don't loose it in the wet because I never driving it in the wet if I can help it. Always check the forecast!

The supra forum is just insane in winter. about 20 crased last year because they cannot drive.

Si can you honestly not trust yourself not to drive in the wets??

  • Author

No, I can. As I've said before I don't like driving in icey/wet roads if I don't have to. i do enough of that in my Leon. I save the car for the good days as well as preserving the underside of the car and of the car overall, which is what I try and pride myself on. Keeping an old worthless Z in as good condition as I can.

One thing about my Z, whenever I want to take it apart, it all flies off no problems. No siezed nuts/blolts or anything, never come across them even when pulling the engine and the complete suspension overhaul. Understide looks new and I want it to stay that way.

Dunno if any of this is now makng sense as my medication has kcked right in and I'l gonna pass ouy t in a minute. :)

No that makes perfect sence :)

I just hate it when people say they a deadly and to easy to brake away in the wets, when Its not the car that is at fault its the driver

They are, regardless, but a good driver can correct. I've done that a few times. Tought myself to drift and powerslide in a Senator. Great fun. It was an NA, so predictable

But are they a good driver being in a situation they have to get them selfs out off....

Different if you make it slide because you want to,

dont forget your talking to a class 1 advanced driver mate ;)

The amount of people who i meet that dont know how to get a car to slide, never mind prevent and control one is unreal! (not that im tarring you with that brush :x:)
