Im after a new cheap daily runaround - I would really love a pwerful sleeper - i.e. A car that looks pretty anonymous but is kick ass quick. The more anonymous and the more powerful the better!!

What would you guys go for?

I personally have had a couple of Volvo T5's in the past, a proper wolf in sheeps clothing! :D:D:D

definetly a wolf in sheeps clothing my m8 has a t5 cd auto always raises a smile when next to a modded corsa at the lights:D

this is what they do when they see uve left them for dust

You could always buy this off me for £4000.

It pretty much matches your requirements;)

Mitsubishi Legnum/Galant.

A very nice car and fast too but just a juicey as a 300ZX A Stagea would be a better bet if you are going for an estate car.

306 gti6.. remove the gti6 badges and replace with hdi badges .. nothing to tell them apart.. 170bhp and handles like a go kart :)

Depends what your budget is.

I wouldn't call a 3 series a Sleeper unless it was an E36 M3 4 door.

I'd have to agree with that:bow:

Yep I agree to :) just picked up a 850 T5 as the 300 replacement :) love the thing to bits and good fun to drive but getting a quick pull away is half the fun, FWD it likes to just wheel spin.

I would suggest a SAAB 9-5 Aero the mid range grut is superb and with a maptun or abbott racing upgrade an absolute rocket. Or if on a budget SAAB 9000 Aero again with maptun or abbott racing easly 300bhp with change from £1500 that includes the car:shock:.

My daily ride is a 9-5 aero estate with maptun stage 3 and has shown a clean pair of heels to many a modded impreza/boy racers.

I used a SAAB 9000 aero standard as a track car fantastic on the straights but to big & heavy for the corners but again boy racers in redtop corsa's and standard subaru's had no match on the straights.

And all of the above in the comfort of a large leather armchair( best car seats I have ever sat in):D

I had a Volvo 850 T5 Estate and it was fast and good looking but it was like driving a block of flats not a brilliantly comfortable car IMO of course :)

Bmw 540i e39 or Mercedes e430 both v8s and not bad with mpg, i have had both, 540i was more quick though,

93 honda civic VTI, packs a real punch and doensn't look anything special.

Or daihatsu charade, about 95ish 1.6glxi, absolutely rapid and looks awfull

The old 850 balistic brick. It all depends on which model you get as to comfort. I've had 5 T5's now now and another is on its way soon The one to go for is the ME7 engine these were fitted to the T5R and C70 GT coupes on cars registed between 08/99 and 07/01. These have bigger brakes a different front suspension next generation supension set up andthe 260 bhp ECU. The Torque on these things are amazing and Volvo Rica tuning (Birmingham) chip and will deliver 315 to 325 bhp dependant on the individual car. £2500 to £3500 will get you one of these beauty's and they are bullet proof and embaress cars claiming much bigger BHP. + the handling is good, but it's no Porsche Boxter. Though in a strait line it will kill them every time and most standard Zeds in a straight line and on the twisty's

ALWAYS liked the C70 T5s. Friggin' cheap now. Good quality car with power.

I agree the T5 is fast and handles pretty well; I've never owned one but I have driven more than a couple as well as having the odd play against one or two....... However a stock T5 is definately not quicker than a stock zx twin turbo or a Boxster S (as opposed to the "normal" boxster), mate!

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Agree with the above. I've driven a modified and standard T5, they are quick and handle well, but not Z32 TT quick and there's no way they are a better handling car.

A while back when my car was standard, a renault megane gt something, had wierd stripes down the side of it, looked like a forumla one model/edition pulled up next to me. It left me for dead, i was very embrassed!!!

Edit: Was one of these! (The megane of course!)

Edit agian. I just found it was a 2005-present Mégane Trophy: 3.5 L 24-valve V6, 330 hp, no wonder i got killed!!

The 225 sport probably. Will win on a traffic light grand prix, but mid-range, you'll reel him back. 0-60 is a second slower than than the Z. Z32 TT manuals aren't great off the lights unless you have a good launch technique.
