I got my Ecu back from andy p today, cleaned up the engine temp sender and relocated some wires and my engine check light is now gone and the fan is off, FINALLY!

I took it for a spin and all was a bit spluttery untill it all got worked back into shape.

I did an oil change and all was well.

Took it for a 20min drive and all was perfect!

Went inside for a couple of hours and ha hoe, go back to my car to nip to tesco and guess what...

Try to start her up and the alarm starts going hay-wire, immobilises the car and starts making clicky noises!

Ive replaced the battery and retuned it and its still going all haywire, I GIVE UP!

its a laserline 290i2/291 (with the fob) any advise?

nope its fine, personally i think its the relay for the immobiliser because the clicking is that destinct noise of a broken one, but i cant do a diagnostics test because the bloody thing wont listen to me!

Its too late to bugger with it now though, and i need the car working fine for monday!

again... I GIVE UP!

I've got a Lazerline 996(v3) and when my alternator packed up overnight and flattened the battery, it went apeshit even when the battery was charged again.Changed the alternator, then reset and worked perfectly ever since.Dont know if this is any help :)

Hope you sort it quickly.

Cheers Maz.

I 'think' that is a fuel pump relay, but someone may be able to confirm this.

I agree chuck the bugger out :smash: then stamp on it a few times :hyper: then have a bevvy or two for your troubles :duffer:

the alarm has kicked in the immobiliser which has disabled the fuel pump and starter motor so as im trying to start it all i can hear is the relays clicking like mad.

Ive phoned the RAC up now so with any luck he can help me

Has the car been converted from Auto to manual at anytime??

Had a similar thing myself and the alarm had tripped the nutral switch

no, always an auto, but im starting to think the battery is dead, nothing seems very bright and the lights are off, but if im thinking right, a flat battery or near dead battery wouldnt be enough to turn off the immobiser.

And because i checked it with my booster and thats poop

quote for batt £77.50 in stock, that sound good?

Thats about what I paid for my battery.

Have you checked the positive and earth connections - before you stump up for a new battery ?

  • Author

no, but i just fitted a new battery, and guess what... it was the battery :) all is well now!

Thank you everyone!

So till next time...
