im not doing it, my neighbour wants the big white sqaure with the numbers on the side of her pratstick

what about the ones they use in the le mans series that glow in the dark!:hyper:

dan.:smash:

I dont think they are illegal either as you see those old classic sports cars on rallys with them on and the gumball rally loads of that mob have numbers on the cars.

I think it's a racing club rule..... maybe RAC, BRSCC, BRDC or whoever organises races that say once the vehicle leaves the track the number must be taken off. That's why you sometines see cars with a big X across the number.

But there agian if if you're not competing surely it would be car decoration. Live the VW Lovebug edition that came out with a number on the side

Yep. From what I understand, you can't have numbers on the side of your vehicle (or anywhere else on the car) on a public highway unless they are "struck through" with a line or cross of some sort (some sort of removable tape should do it).

I may be wrong but I was told this at a classic and exotic car meet I used to go to that had a fair few vehicles in the same boat. :)

im pretty sure it is illegal but cant remember why tbh

Same here, although the wacky racers got away with it but their numbers where not in a white square.:p

It might be that in certain circumstances government and military vehicles or vehicles aquired for such use in emergencies may have such numbers displayed on them. Then the publics use of such numbers may cause a problem in a time of need.

I know many vehicles have numbers on the roof so that planes and helicopters can see and track them more easily.

This is just my theory!

if its illegal then foxtons (estate agent) is fooked they own hundreds of mini's with numbers on them more common in london then a black cab :D
