Guys,

Can you remind me what goes onto this pipe off the balance bar, i cant find any loose pipes anywhere, looks like some sort of vacuum hose should go onto it, but im lost to know where it comes from?!?

Anyone got any ideas on where i could find where the hose comes from

Cheers

Pipe about 3" long connects to solid pipe by the side of idle valve ;) I think this is the one to take off if emissions too high for MOT :D Sure someone else will confirm this :)

im guessing i no longer have that connecting pipe since i ripped all the gubbins out the bottom of the plenum.

Makes sense, just re read the TB water bypass guide and it says i have to re plumb the cannister vacuum hosing

Cheers guys

ive not decided what to do with that yet. not sure if i want it polished or not. May consider black chroming it.....

nick how long did it take you mate to remove the plenum??

About 2 hours, alot of the water hoses underneath the plenum were extremely stiff which made manouvering it to get to where i could undo them was hard work and fiddly. took about 1 and a half to put it back on

Jimmy, this is what the guide i used said

"IMPORTANT NOTE:

On the driver’s side, be sure to run a 3-foot length of 6mm vacuum hose from the carbon canister to balance tube. When eliminating the plenum metal tubing, the mentioned vacuum tubing has also been eliminated. On the original configuration, the hose runs from the carbon canister to a vacuum tube found underneath the driver’s side throttle body as shown in the next picture. The parts outlined in red are the parts eliminated. The green line shows the original hose, whereas the red line shows the new path. The upper end of the new hose attaches to the rear of the balance tube."

Sorry to revive a thread but im about to go for an mot and ive done a carbon canister bypass. Now will removing this pipe help with the emissions test?

to be honest mate, i dont think youll need to worry. I MOT'd mine last week, even with no CATs it passed the cat test (limit is .30, my car .21)

so will i but im intrested in your mot if you have removed your carbon canister

Carbon canister only helps remove excess fumes from the tank. AFAIK, it doesn't effect exhaust emissions.

Yep, although its illegal to remove coz it lets fuel vapours into the atmosphere.

if youve done a bypass and cut all the junk from the bottom of the plenum, then you,ll need a length of vac tube to reconnect it to the carbon canister providing you still have it. The pipe should go round the side of the plenum down between the intake piping on the near side.
