the BP down the road from work had sold out of Ultimate, so I drove home almost on fumes only to find out the local Shell had run out of V-Power    so i put £15 of pepsi in her (read that as '95) - will have to be careful with my right foot until the next delivery :(

didnt see much panic buying - seemed to be plenty of diesel and normal unleaded

Total seem to have a high spec fuel now, can't remember what it's called though.

My local Total has 97 but my Shell ran out of V-Power last Monday. The last I paid for V-Power was 120.9 at the Total for 97 was 130.9

I noticed at tescos the other day that their 99 was 122.9 and Southport ain't exactly the cheapest place for fuel.

there's loads of Vpower up here, but nothing else, lol.

Total has excellium, its supposed to be 97 and its WELL OVERPRICED normally dearer than v power and ultimate ,but its also a newly developed blend so id be wary of any bio stuff in it. Total always seem to be one step behind with their fuels, i know i worked for them for long enough.

I try to keep to v power in all our cars, 2nd choice ultimate, 3rd choice esso super. Dont think the others are much cop.

Around here its a joke! , no super or V power. My nice 24/7 shell garage is now a fu4king esso!!!

So in the end i had to go to asda, and my poor car is on this crappy unleaded... Prices are as followed for my area......

and those that have got it...

unleaded 1.269

diesel 1.389

Haven't had to fill up for a while as I don't use the car for work.

Have gone off the Tesco stuff as the car didn't seem to lke it, wouldn't tick over etc.

Have a look at the lonk on the bottom of my sig for petrol prices in your area. You may have to join up but it is free to register. You can find local prices up to 25 miles.

Been using the crappy ole Mazda 626 recently as I'm on fumes in the Zed too. I drove back from Leicester on Sunday and limped to the Shell station to find they were out...

The Tesco 99 RON stuff that zx-eyes talked about seems pretty good though. When I can't get VPower I use that and my car runs great on it - and it's a J Spec.

Don't forget that Tesco's 99 Octane is 5% bio-fuel.

It is?

What are the pitfalls with bio-fuel on these cars (or any others really) then? And by bio-fuel do you mean ethanol?

I gutted about the Shell Garage changing to Esso as it right by my house. mind you there were and still rea the worse for fuel costs. They were charging 115.9 yeasterday in the day 116.9 at peak time after work, then back to 115.9. There is a shell the next roundabout down Murt,

did we come to any decision about the part-biofuel? were the comments about it being ok with pintleless injectors well founded?

i passed by the BP and they had Ultimate back on tap so I might stop by tomorrow and get some 'ard stuff back in the tank :)

I did go into the esso and asked why did they change, they said they didn't really get on with them :nono: and had problems from day one.

I know there is one down the next roundabout, but the opening times are very short and its not a 24/7 like blackhorse

Cheers Athene!

Still don't know what to do though because I'm not ENTIRELY sure what year my car is and therefore whether I have pintle-less injectors or not. It's supposed to be a '95 M according to the docs, but it's a Jap import and apparently it's not uncommon for them to add a few months to make them seem newer. When I replaced my thermostat it was marked '93 and the plastic panels in the boot are marked '94 (or the other way around...) so I dunno what it is!

I'll just try to keep to the VPower as much as possible I suppose :)
