I have just had my PCV valves replaced and I cannot believe how much better the car feels:dance:

I bought the kit 3 years ago but never got round to getting it fitted. When I collected my Z on Monday the mechanic said it's made a difference to the performance but I didn't really expect it. He showed me the old ones and they were all gunked up!

The car now feels a bit more lively and the smoking on idle has gone - good news there as I thought one of the turbo seals was on its way out:dance:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

What are they, where are they and what do the do :D

They are small valves that allow the crank case to breath. They are on the back of the inlet.

sometimes get a little smoke i've got some to fit so i think i'll get on with it

cool. cheers Si how do you know if they need changeing????

Take them off see if they are gunked up also see if the spring is still pushing the valve closed if it is they are fine.

I thought it was a good idea to change 'em every 60K anyway? I'm gonna get mine done ASAP - a full replacement kit from the states was only about $80 I reckon

Do it mate!

My car had occasionally been showing a little smoke from the left side on idle for a couple of years. Not long after I had a less restrictive cat-back exhaust in fact; hence I thought it was the the turbo seals.

However after finally having the PCVs done the smoking has gone:dance:

Phew......;)
