Just thought i'd let you guys and girls no, Ive just taken out breakdown cover with the AA and thought it was quite a good deal.

£18.29 a month, and thats for Roadside, Relay, Homestart and Stay mobile, the best bit though is that they will repair the car with new parts up to £500, 5 times a year, all you have to do is pay the first £25 of each claim and you only need to pay 1 month when you take out the cover.

It's handy, as my starter is on it's way out, they can pay for the new one and for it to be fitted.

Might be worth a shot.

I bloody hope not lol, have a look on their website, cant find another recovery service that does repair.

I just joined the AA two days ago, paying a lot less as I didn't want home start (Will fix it myself) or stay mobile (have another car), think mine was £12 a month or something.

I'm not that mechanicaly minded, so I suppose it's not a bad deal, moght get an old shed 300zx so I can get familiar with it.

i,v got that cover as well its quite good ,you can only claim if they recover you but you can stipulate what garage you want , the garage then tell the aa how much the repairs are then the aa settle the garage , the garage has to be vat registered tho

the cover even covers turbos which is good , it doesnt cover things like zaust clutch, and brakes ,but does cover gearboxes worth while having imo

their T&C looks fraught with get out clauses and extras such as

Vehicles which can be covered under AA Breakdown Repair Cover:

Cover is available for any vehicle which is eligible for breakdown assistance .... A supplementary premium will be payable for eligible vehicles which are:

10 years or more old when first registered with the Insurer; and/or

have 100,000 or more recorded miles at that time;

also if doing your own servicing or running anything other than 100% stock your fooked i guess it would mean fair wear and tear on components as well would not be paid for

Servicing must be done by a suitable garage business eg not a neighbour, friend or family member but a garage trading business with garage premises. You may be asked to produce evidence of servicing when You make a claim so be sure to retain Your receipts and invoices..........Specific Exclusions modifications and/or alterations to manufacturer's original specification;

any other defects identified by Your repairing garage not connected to the initial cause of the breakdown;

any defects due to the poor maintenance of the vehicle, including cambelt failure and any consequential damage, when it cannot be established that the belt has been changed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations;

it smells a bit like the PPI insurance sold with everything claimed (successfully) by no-one...one of the biggest scandels in finance ever

i signed up for this last month, i aint had to claim yet but it'll be handy when i do

i just cancelled mine they were just a pain. mechanic didnt know anythin about my car told me the alternator had packed in all it was was a loose wire and wouldnt come help me when i got a puncture as my spare wasnt in the car at the time however they would have if i paid more money thats all they seemed to ask for

They don't guarantee to fix it by the road and I wouldn't expect them to on a car like a Z.

It does say in the T&C's that you must carry a spare tyre if the car has one as standard otherwise they would spend all their time running round after people who either can't afford a spare or modified their car and expect them to pick up the bill.

I called them one weekend when I had a blowout and no spare and they offered to arrange a recovery company for me and charge it on. Seems fair enough to me as it was my choice to put massive wheels and brakes on so the space saver is useless. Keep meaning to buy an old 18" wheel as a spare.

They are the ONLY recovery company that will take you to YOUR choice of destination when you break down whether that be a garage, home or somewhere else.

RAC etc will only take you to a local garage to fix.

Been with them years and saved me a fortune for only a tenner a month.

Last year my clutch went in the Lake District and I was facing a £500 tow for the 70 miles home without them!

I had this cover and claimed with no problem whatsoever. It does exactly what it says on the tin!!

Well done AA!!

RAC offer different levels too - I've got onward travel on mine, and my BM blew up on Monday and they took it to the garage of my choice - which was nowhere near where I live.

yep great service ..friend of mines car lost the oil pump at 70+ on the motorway blew the engine apart .....as i was travelling with them and i was in the AA ( have been for years ) they took us and the car to middlesbrough from Junction 33 of the M6 peace of mind for a tenner a month !!! brilliant

my bank pays half of mine because of type of account i got and i pay £38 a year for everything with AA they look at it and i send it to pj at SWZ and he fixes it works a treat think caribzx doing same now.:dance::D

Not so mate - if you have recovery included in your membership then the RAC will also take you anywhere you want.

The different levels of cover are pretty similar for both the AA and RAC.

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
