:slap: Poss gonna get shot down in flames but i am seriously considering a R33 GTR, the reason being is in my household we have got 3 cars my SWB, Smart car (everyday) and my fiancee's mx5 all with 2 seats. Whenever i want to do something i.e go to the tip e.t.c i have to borrow my mum and dads car !!!! I have always had a soft spot for the gtr and wondered if anyone has owned one before and could comment.

Thanks guys:nelson:

I dont know, just a thought:mac1:

A shit one at that! We all have them I guess! LOL

Your car is one of the very best of the forum, I'd go so far as to say that it is probably my favourite on here. You have it at such a good level now. You can't just sell it.

taking the car to the isle of wight tomorrow, im sure i will love it even more ! 20 degrees seafront roads !!!! thanks guys for all you comments i think i will wait a bit and save up and get both (after i've done the bank over)

Everything I drive I've driven seriously hard buddy and to make such a comment without knowing who or what I'm about is a bit daft. Rear wheel drive is more engaging and takes a lot more skill to keep on the tarmac. and the 10% of the time that the GTR is not rear wheel drive is the times you would be working a lot harder and in a more focused manner if you were driving a rear Wheel drive car to its limits.

Been there done that got the T shirt and I stick by what I said.

In this instance I really dont believe you, not one bit. This is the internet afterall, claims are exagerated, facts are omitted.

The limit of the GT-R is when the rear wheels begin to slide, its a very difficult trick to maintain this in tighter bends and avoiding power being sent to the front wheels.

Many people have lost control of GT-Rs and twatted them by lifting off and over correcting, some people keep the throttle planted and the car will wallow and settle itself, some people will keep it in RWD state and power out of a bend without any problems, it takes skill to do this. Try visit youtube, and watch Motoharu Kurosawa (Gan San) drive a stock R33 around Nordschielfe and come back and tell me it looks unrewarding.

I appreciate this is a 300ZX enthuast forum, and in this forum, the 300zx is the greatest car on earth, nothing is more fun or better looking etc, and some of you have a chip on your shoulder with the GT-R, but that doesnt change the fact that some people on here who own and driven GT-Rs more times than you have, in dry, wet, good and bad roads wont appreciate such ignorant opinions based on limited experience.

I have driven/owned M3s, Supras, Honda S2000s, Maserari 3200 Twin turbos, all capable RWD cars that can kill you if you dont respect them, I dont find them anymore rewarding than a GT-R when driving aggressively.

I don't know how you could even consider getting rid of yours over an R33.

Well some people might fancy a car that wants to be driven hard, go faster in corners aswell as in the straight line and still requires concentration for it. It was never built to be sat in a driveway somewhere in Bedford, 5 days a week being polished for other internet members to drool over and constantly fit bits purchased on ebay.

It is a car that is meant to be driven, the seating position is excellent for car this size, gear shift is fantastic, 8000 RPM, and exhaust pops and flames. There is no time to play with double DIN DVD players or looking at leather re-trimmed console panels.

Granted the GT-R is not a "pretty" car, its a rugby player compared to a pretty boy diving footballer that needs pampering and hype.

Fair play, although some people buy the 300zx for the same reason ;)

the 33 is a great car but its a big heavy thing, feels much bigger and heavier than a zed but for what money there going for nowadays you can get a good stage 1 car (circa 400 bhp) for under £10k, decent boot and much bigger inside than a zed.

i liked mine but wanted a 32 so sold up but i would have another :)

You get all of that from the Z as well as the looks! I don't dislike the r33, far from it, but something as nice as James' car, I'd NEVER sell for an R33.

Someone really has got a bee in their bonnet!

I've driven Skylines, granted, not the GTR, but I can't say the driving position is better than the Z32. It's all personal preference at the end of the day.

I could have gone out and bought an R33 GTR...but, I prefer the styling and seemingly, the exclusivity of owning a Z32.

IMO: A zed is your life companion. It's got heart and soul and is the best looking Nissan ever!

Skylines are "Race Breed" - Just like it says on the engine code (RB)

I'm also considering a R32 GTR for track racing, but I'll never change it for a zed.

.

What bit don't you believe? I've owned a midnight purple 1995 R33 GTR Vspec back in 2002. I had it for 6 weeks and thought it was ace for the first 4 weeks, but changed my mind the longer i lived with it. Paul300zx has had the same experience and came to the same conclutions.

Isn't this what I said??

Mate thiese are basic errors that inexperienced drivers do with any car and with the same results and has no bearing on what I said. I hold FIA racing liecence, I raced Karts, Palmer Audi's Production bikes etc. One of my best friends is an ex Porsche Driver driver and I've been racing one type of car, bike, truck or Kart for the last 28 years. So you should know who you are talking to before you try and demeen what they say or you'll just sound like a complete tit. Better to say "IMO and You think and feel".

Can I Just ask how old you are and what professional driving experience you have. that make you feel you can tell me about what is my oppinion drawn from personal experience is *****x. Because in IMO you sound like a complete stupid knob.

I recon i could beat u in a race..... on my scalectrics!!!!!!

Ive driven both, and to be honest, i think the electronics in the GTR's take away from the driving experience instead of adding to it. The only thing keeping you on the road in a zed when pushing the limits is skill and experience, not a computer telling each wheel how much grip is available. The only thing you have in a zed to tell you that is what the car feeds back to the driver

i like the gtr mainly for the mechnical aspect and its race breed performance , but the overall package doesn't do it for me, mainly the datsun sunny interior spoils the gtr and exterior design, imho

hence thats why ive got a zed for the last 6 yrs as its not quite the same monster performance /handling etc but has a nice compromise with its looks etc, but thats just my opinion...:)

Has this turned into the skyline forum?

Have never driven one but think they are ugly.

I think that just about says all you need to say, Mark. I was waiting on your reply!!!...

Richard:D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

they are both great cars. i love the look of the skyline its a saloon car that looks good but the zed is the better looking car. my GTR shits me up alot more than my 300zx did (not counting the crash) but i would love a swb zed to park next to the GTR.

Ok enough of skyines now. Or il end up buying one to find out myself what its al about.

I've just sold my R32 GTR and got a 300zx TT, mainly as a cost cutting exercise though lol.

I'd recommend the R32 over the R33 after driving both, mine was just RWD and was plenty of fun, the early GTR's often being referred to as the true driver's car ;)
