Could be the MAF. Do you know how to check to see if there are any codes stored in the ECU?

i dont really no anything about them bloody car driving me mad bit lost using computer to im an idiot

youve come to the right place then, you'll get the advice you need here!

sounds like its not firing on all coil packs (spark plugs) take off the plastic connector and check blades for corrosion, on the connector and the coil pack, give a clean with a small file and some contact spray like ambersol (used for cleaning electrical stuff), do the same with the MAF, located under the nose cone, between the headlights.

If you have had 140, so far, it might just be a tempremental fault, and cures when the engine is at working temp.

Give us some more info, on what zed you have, ie TT or NA, post em up here, there is a wealth of knowledge.

Just seen your other post, sounds like the ptu is messing about, Check the connections on it the same as i posted just now,

ahhhhh the dreaded hesitation...... lots of investigating to do. Check every connector you see and clean them all up.

maf

water temp

injectors

coils

ptu

idle valve

tps

etc etc

its a tturboi put it on my mates computer and throttle posistion plus knock sensor come up zx specialist gave me a 1 ohm resistor to fix knock sensor and boost go,s a little higher when floor it it did 140 b4 put resistor do they go much better then that i try what u z in light dont mind fixing part hate finding wrong part could it be anything worse then sensors smokes a little on start and 15 mpg is best i can get its crap on fuel

wow wow wow you dont wanna go disabling the knock sensor unless your 100% sure its not detting.

and erm i didnt understand the rest

swhat do i need 2do make sure boost dont go high is it hard 2change knock sensor and what r they ment2 b like on fuel is 15 mpg normal

has the timing been check? check for any boost leak?

when it runs shite you take a coilpack off and it runs the same,? that would tell me the coil pack it nackered of onits way out

15mpg is a bit low mate.

get a aftermarket boost gauge and see where it peaks and have someone in the know drive it and listen for det.... its what ended my engine... but im happy im getting a rebuild :D

depends what your doing with it, driving hard around town you'll struggle to make double figures, a zed should make mid 20's at 70-80 on the motorway, i get about 18 out of mine on average, thats the odd squirt here and there but generally just driving normally....

You didnt buy an 18 year old 3.0 twin turbo car and expect it to be economical did you?

Sounds like throttle position sensor if its varying revs when you just touch the accelerator, might need adjustment, could even be throttle cable snagged.

Lumpy running almost definatly coil pack related, its either not getting air fuel or a spark to that cylinder all of the time. Got to be getting air, i expect its getting fuel... so lack of spark leads you to duff coil, bad PTU (how old is the car, and has it had one ever?) or lack of juice going to the coil.... They ARE bad for those connectors doing knackered.

Mines got two cable ties over two of those connectors, a temporary solution so i could use it over a year ago... Seems to do the trick.

Do some searches using the sear button on the top right, will bring up answers to these questions. Its all been asked before!

On a 500 mile journey lots of motorway and steady 70mph in my TT Z I managed 24mpg.

But when you start having fun I just don't know. Could it be 10mpg? I suppose a 16-18mpg average would sound ok.
