Now that I've got my new wheels on, I am considering lowering the suspension, particularly as the front is a little higher than the rear.

At the moment the clearance from the top of the tyre to the wheel arch is 4cm at the rear and 5cm at the front. I am thinking of lowering the rear by 2cm and the front by 3cm, so that both would have a clearance of 2cm. Will this give enough clearance for the suspension to work without the wheels rubbing the arches?

'allo Matey,

"She's" looking good:bow:

was having similar concerns with my new wheels, well the rears anyway. However, although it looks high when stationary the ride height changes when she's moving - sits down more at the back, so I'm leaving it as it is for now - never crossed my mind, so might be worth checking - just a thought:)

Cheers,

Steve

I Would lower it. I have tein on mine. i think its lowerd 10mm on the front and 15mm at the rear

I have Teins also, so I'm hoping it will be a straight forward job to lower them!

You think about your back old fella, lowering it will make the ride harsher.

Old fella???????................OLD FELLA!!!!!!!!!!!!....OLD FELLA I'll give you bloo.......................ooooohhhhhh.........you mean ME?

Suppose if the cap fits I'll have to wear it but VERY unwillingly.

Thankyou MISTER Scotty for the reminder:slap:

Which Teins do you have ? If its the Budget Superstreets then it will alter the spring rates as you lower it, if its the Flex or higher version then ride height wont affect stiffness.

If you've already got coilovers it is a "no brainer". drop it as low as you like, if it works out that you are rubbing the arches or hitting too many speed bumps then lift it up a bit.

simple!

BTW - I love the new rims, and slamming the car to the deck will only make them look better!

Yep, bring her down a bit. It's easy to do and it would look and handle much better.

Also love the wheels Dave, very nice choice!

I'm sure they're Flex but, sod's law, I can't find the manual and spanners that were with the Zed when I bought it.

Ain't that just typical:headvswal

It's all in a clear plastic folder and I think it's somewhere in the garage, but that's almost up to the ceiling with junk of one sort or another.......it'll take weeks to search through that lot:rant:

definatly without a doubt lower it... from experience it will improve appearance and handling by approx 57.4%

Gosh...you're very clever Joely P:bow:

It's going in tomorrow to be lowered, 3cm at the front and 2cm at the rear. , I don't think that will be as low as you have shown but it is as far as I dare go at this stage......I don't want to bottom my Zed on all the sleeping policemen around Swindon. The wheel's geometry will then be checked and corrected, Toe-in, Alignment, Camber etc. and all will then be ready to GO!

Also, I've found my Tein spanners, they were in the 'very safe' place that I put them ages ago....................in the tool bag next to the spare wheel in the boot!!! It was by pure chance that I found them there but this now means the lowering can go ahead.

For those of you going to Castle Combe on Saturday, I'll see you there.

get a tt front bumper aswell... thatll look sexy ;)

I did plan to do that more than a year ago (cos my first Zed was an N/A with a TT front bumper) and I bought one which is still in the garage.

Problem is, I got some quotes to respray it silver and the prices were bl@@dy ridiculous so I've given up on the idea. (Anyway, I think it's cheating a bit, like dressing mutton up as lamb!)

more like a tortoise in a rabbit costume :D

unless its got nos like that nutter wozza.
