Just wondering if anyone's running their Z on Avo springs? I'm considering fitting some instead of the Tein ones I have as they offer a more aggressive drop. 35mm over the 15mm the Tein do.

Thanks in advance.

my brother has avo fitted to his 300zx . i wanted the same as it dropped the car to a nice height . but they had sold out of avo's . even avo themselves didn't have any instock . so i bought white line . for £148.00 delivered . but was way to low for me so have sold them and fitted eibach from zcentre . if you want pics of the avo's fitted to my brothers car just say and i will send some . cheers

Why are you so against coilovers? with a set of coilovers you can adjust the ride height to be "just so" (as I know you like it!).

Also - you want to drop the car but you don't want the ride to be too firm!

I'm afraid you will have to compromise somewhere along the line unless you go for an airsprung setup! lol...

For what you want Si You should really go for the the Ground control coilover sleave designed for either the Koni pro sport ajustable shocks or the KYB's if your a cheep skate.

That way you get the nice ride aforded by the Eibach'e springs and you can ajust the height to what ever you desire.

I have them and dont rate them if you want mine you can have them as they are coming off after japfest !

Dont think yours can be AVO paul, judging by what others have said about them.

but do they give the same ride comfort as the eibach pro spring kit? those ground control coilover eibach springs are not progressively wound and i would imagine would have to be stiff. in fact, id say basically if you want to go really low... you have to put up with stiff and bouncy!

I am considering the GC setup. I have KYBs in the garage waiting to be fitted. But they need painting satin black first.

I always thought the spring rate had to be in relation to the shocks, surely if you muck about with spring compression that would throw the handling out?

Its not ideal (a bit like the Tein Superstreets) and I had my reservations, but they seem to be getting good reviews in the U.S.

A Proper Mono Coilover system will always be the best setup though. They have much better damping than a Standard strut setup but spring rates tend to be on the harder side because of the track work they are destined for. You can always specify custom spring rates though.

Interestingly SPL always recommend Coilovers - Wether it be for the Road or Track. They say that a standard strut and spring system can not fully deal with the reduced suspension travel that is a result of significant lowering.

am i correct in saying if you install much stiffer springs on a softer shock, the shock will become near useless, the soft shock cannot dampen quick enough for the stiff spring or something along those lines.

I can highly recommend Bilsteins struts and springs. Had them on my LWB for 3 years and, aside from the drop (30mm I seem to remember) the handling was superb, as commented on by JD when he had a shot in it. They gave the feel of "sports suspension" without the trade off in ride comfort. Just a thought.
