just disconnect the sensors?

that way you can still have either :)

or are you looking to loose the extra weight?

Its very easy done but you need to know that your insurance would be void if they knew you done that.

any one done this if possible?

Im lost, why would you do that? Only possible reason i can think of drifting :S But the 300 is way to heavy to drift!

Mark, I believe John Dixon has some experience with complete ABS removal.

Too heavy to Drift..noooo....ask Paul@SWZ to take you for a spin at the next meet ;)

Removing it reduces weight and the ABS can cause problems with large brake setups. Plus many drivers prefer a non-ABS setup for the track.

Really???? look at this then?

It's not too bad to do really. For MOT purposes you have to remove the whole system including sensors.

Basically:

Remove sensors and make up blanking plates for the front ones so no dirt gets in. Remove rear sensors.

Remove ABS unit and ECU for it. Note where pipes go through the bulkhead and the lettering on the unit.

At this point you have 3 options really:

1) (Quickest) - Where the pipes went through the bulkhead, tee the front inlet to the 2 front outlets (just connect them together). connect the rear inlet to the rear outlet.

2) Remove all front brake piping from under the car and then re-run the lines to the front brakes in the engine bay, shortens the pipe run hugely.

3) As 2 but get a master cyl off a non-abs car. I didn't do this as wasn't sure what diameter they were.

Also, I fitted some 1psi residual pressure valves in the lines to try and stop that pad knock back that all z's seem to have to some degree.

As Ian says, you'd best let your insurance know, they will cover it as a modification.

:shock::confused:

Well what if they came from the factory without ABS?

My black one does not have ABS, and as far as I can tell it just was not put in at the time it was built!

:shock::confused:

That dont come into it Robert if it was a FF then the insurance company will wriggle out if anything was to happen.

Phew thank God for that Iain.

Happened to my mate,he hit a car that was not even taxed so the argument surely would be the untaxed car should not have even been on the road:confused:

But no! He never got a penny because he did not tell the insurance company that he removed it the year before. Ah well you live and learn.

Which Z32's have ABS and which don't???

Most TT's have Anti lock braking system as standard but some na's may have it too!

So was it an option??? Or did certain Z32's just not have it full stop???

if you wanted to remove abs just for the track and didnt want the hassle of putting it back in for the road, id just unplug the sensors, and remove the abs warning bulb if it annoys you... theres my bodge of the day :D

I'd just remove the multiplug from the ABS ECU - I reckon that would work.

Christ that's harsh! Did the insurance co. take away his car and inspect it fully then for them to know he had no ABS?

Sorry for not explaining Robert

They did not take it away they came and inspected it and because he hit the back of a car (no brake lights working) and caused some serious damage they checked his brakes and discovered the ABS was removed so no valid insurance they said and were able to wriggle right out of paying up.

So you hit a guy with no brake lights and you are fully comp you would think you are covered he ended up just short of 3k out of pocket:(

That's just one reason for not removing it......

......ABS is such an important safety feature that all cars should have it fitted without question.

I personally think it's daft to remove it on a road car so I wouldn't.

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Yeah but fit bigger calipers and the ABS programming goes right out the window and renders the ABS useless if not dangerous....

Isnt the abs pump on swb cars behind the drivers seat is the 2x2 under the bonnet then ?

Absolutely, mine was terrible with the R34 callipers which is why it came off. Go to break late onto an apex and if there was a bit of loose you go sailing past with the front wheels locking then releasing.

the reason why i want rid is that the ABS does not work propperly with the brembos, it just shakes the wheels and makes them feel like they are going to fall off!!! thats if it kicks in at all

cheers guys for all the info

a virtual pint to each and every one of you!!:duffer:

I might be being thick here but why would the type of brake discs affect the way the ABS works. As far as i know you've got sensors on each wheel to say if the wheel is spinning or locked and if it's locked when you're braking hard the ABS releases then tries braking on it again. Does the ABS unit not provide enough force to lock bigger brakes?
