Just wondering if anyone's bought this stuff. It's substantially quieter than Dynamat. I am thinking of buying it. 10 Sq ft is about £23. For that money, you'd barely have enough to do one door with Dynamat.

How do you know it's substantially quieter than Dynomat? I always thought Dynomat was industry standard because it offers the best reduction?

If it is better you have found a bargin, just wondering what you basis for comparison is?

I did a lot of research on the various sound deadening materials before I installed mine. According to all the top audio sites Dynamat is still by far the best but you do have to pay more. I have installed Dynamat in the boot, doors, and floorboards and the reduction in road noise and improved sound from the stereo was significant.

dynamat is a heavy compound vibration/sound dedener , it helps stop panel vibration and absorbs sound waves, take a look at this stuff as is is more pointed at the sound absorbtion route

if you want total silence then dynomet and stick this stuff to the dynomat

Just read through the installation guide and at the end and it states they recommend three layers of the stuff

i have edead and yes you should layer it. I've done the rear hatch area im my slicktop and it did reduce the tire noise (though it felt more like a roar using solid subframe bushes and big tires!)

Sorry, not sure where I got the 'substantially quieter than'. I meant substantially cheaper.

It's about 3 sq metres I believe. 1M = approx 3 feet.

I insulated (think it was "brown bread" rather than Dynamat) the boot and under rear seats in my Black TT. Did'nt notice any difference in road noise reduction :( Its more for stopping Panel vibration with I.C.E really.

But like retro says, you want different stuff, specifically designed for road noise reduction really and you want to fit all the hollow crecises in the boot and around the rear seat area.

This is was half way through. Looks like I used tin foil LOL

The stuff is too heavy for my slicktop though.

I don't find there's much noise through the boot and certainly wouldn't bother fitting it there Dave unless I was going for a big install. You've got polystyrene sections, trim and carpet in the boot and you're also sat the other side of the car. I don't find it weighs much either. Picked up a roll of Ivanhoe today and it really isn't worth worrying about in terms of weight.

Where I'm talking are the doors. I've experienced cars with and without sound deadening and the difference is really noticeable. I want a nice thud and decent sound resolution. Thing with the Z doors is there's sod-all in the way of sound deadening. The speaker mounts are metal against metal and not insulated, the door skin has a small complimentary piece of sound deadening in there which does the square root of fook-all. The door frame itself has nothing what so ever. Pretty poorly insulated which is why you don't get the best sound definition and also quality of thud when you close the door.

I will also do the transmission tunnel and rear quarters. (inner arches, we all know how audible gravel and debris is when it his the arch. Again, there are a few token bits of rubber sound deadening which look pitiful and don't do a huge amount.

how can 10 sq ft be 3 sq meters  approx 3ft x3ft to 1sq metre so thats 3x3=9sq feet to keep it simple 10 sq feet is just over 1 sq metre ;)
