Yeah rundown is great. Especially when you downshift. You loose all of that 'interactive noise' if you will, with an Auto.

I have an auto, which is great for drag racing. I have raced many fast manual cars, and I always catch them when they are gear changing. That said, I hate the sound of them, and I plan on converting to manual at some stage. Lets not forget the power the torque converter is taking :o

Try driving it like you stole it in an auto  end up in the hedge

Manual for a Z everytime, no comparision...

I would convert back to a auto if there was a set up that I wanted i.e this

Fast road autobox fitted with that shift at will kit set to a tiptronic gear selector with a side shift gate for manual selection of gears and a button on top of the gear selector to stop upshifting or downshifting so you can hold a gear whenever you want to

dont forget that when you change gear in manwell a (turbo engine)it will come off boost , in an auto it stays on boost as it changes gear ,that may be why there faster to 100mph oh and fewer gear changes to

Manual gearshift sounds far better IMHO. Hearing a Z pull away and hear it actually going through the gears sounds a lot nicer than the variomatic sound that kind of exudes from the exhaust in auto format.

So you admit! you owned a Daf 66 once??? Lol

And listening to it burble as you slow down in second gear up to some traffic lights, you don't get that in an auto!

The manual is just a completely different car to drive.

:D

You do if you select one or two and back off the gas in an auto :D

I drove a 98 BMW 750 v12 the other day with 5 speed Tiptronic auto and that was fun! so I can see what you mean about liking the tiptronic:)
