Got a crack in the winscreen from a stone hit at the weekend.

 

Will be an insurance job but how long will it take them to get a screen?

 

Typically the MOT is due as well.

i've heard people on here say its taken up to 9 weeks from japan!!!

I had mine done at auto glass. Both front and rear screans because the heater element packed in. They ok'd it with my insurance company on the Monday and did them both on the Friday.

 

I spoke to them about my SWB and they said that if I needed the bronze tint or blue tint screen it would take 4 to 5 days to get them in. Same time for bronze tint rear screen for SWB. However if the Green tint windsrean (never seen a green tint) or a blue or green tint rear screan or side glass for the SWB it could take up to 5 weeks to get them in.

Well after waiting all day for a call I finally called them and the car is booked in for Tuesday morning.

 

Hopefully it will be the right glass as the guy said they had really problems in finding it.

 

The insurance will pay for it but I have to go RAC windscreen so hopefully thet won't be too bad at doing it.

Well after waiting all day for a call I finally called them and the car is booked in for Tuesday morning.

 

Hopefully it will be the right glass as the guy said they had really problems in finding it.

Your car being a series 1 will have the bronze tint. Most UK Spec cars are blue tint so get them to check it out. Blue tint is much clearer to se through but I've only ever seen late model Jspec cars with blue tint.

I really want to replace the glass in my car with UK spec green tint. Lot of hassle, but would make the car look brighter.

Make sure they get the bronze tint ( with possibly a blue top tint ), that is the correct glass tint for a series 1 jap import.

It will make a difference in looks if they fit a blue windscreen, your side glasses are bronze and although the tint is not major, you might see the difference between the blue and bronze.

RAC windscreens took five months to get mine in but I think they forgot to order it for the first four or so. The 'tards!

When mine got smashed and could not drive it, they came with a green windsreen, but would not fit it as it did not match and it was going to take 2 weeks to get bronze replacement, which had to be shipped in from Germany ( RAC Windscreens ) I insisted my insurance company gave me a loan car. They gave me Zafira for two weeks. only cost me £60 excess and did not affect my no claim. that was with NU direct.

 

The one thing to check is that they order the side trim at the same time as they cannot or should not reuse the old one as they distort or break when you remove them as they are bonded. good luck.

DONT use AUTOGLASS... they ****ed mine up big time!

And then refused to accept responsibility!

 

Ended up paying 500+ quid for another replacement windscreen... Insurance paid me back.

Windscreens are easily available, never had an issue finding someone to fit one.

OK the sarga continues.

 

Had a call this morning sayig the screen had arrived but that it had been broken in transit. DOW

 

Had the car booked for the MOT so still took it along and guess what. It failed.

 

Not only on the screen but also the headlights are aimed too high (shouold have taken the subs out)

 

The exhaust has a major leak in the centre box.

 

So no biggies I hope.

 

Also advisers on rear tyres low Side lights dim, due to plastic covers from abflag bumper no doubt, O/S fron sill and floor damaged (improper jacking at some stage probably) and last but not least enginee smoking.

 

Anybody want to buy a 300ZX SWB :rofl:

 

Got 10 working days to get majors done, the only problem I can see is the screen.

Defo got a claim for a loan car now, as car cannot be legally driven ( mot fail on windscreen ). make sure they come back with the side trims.

Well finally got it done today.

 

Looks OK so just need to get the exhaust welded up and should go through the MOT.
