!!!POLL TIME!!! MOD, PURIST, STYLING? what do YOU PREFER?

So far I'm very happy with my black 94 jdm s2 TT 2+2 auto. So far it's as pure as can be. Thinking of dropping some money on it at to bring it up to scratch. When I got it I was thinking of going wide. Now I'm not so sure. Gonna base part of my decision on answers to this poll, sooo...

P.S. Please also post pics or links to the best zed you have ever seen, so that we get to see all of them in one place :smw:

Delete the lot lol why base YOUR choices on everyone elses opinions? ;)

I am a mix of pure form, styling update and performance mods. But I've selected 'styling update' for my particular car. I love a totally standard immaculate Z32, but I also like ones with light body tweaks. The car is such a stunning design, that there is very little in the way of improvement/updates you can do to it. Go past that threshold and you're left with a pretty miserable looking car.

I'd sooner then plough money into upgrading its performance rather than trying to graft half a boat onto it. Big power subtle looking Z32s are a nice thing.

Does anyone have photos of the black wide strosek on smithys homepage - it says it belongs to matt i think. I would really love to see more of that car, particularly what he's done with the interior. thanks in advance :smw:

P.S. Also there is a difference between basing your choices on others opinions by seeing what is available and coming to *YOUR OWN* opinion and following others opinions and just copying others opinions or coming to an opinion which is not really your own... blah blah

I buy a car because i like that car (otherwise, why fooking buy it)

Ive never understood these folk that buy a marque and try and make it look like its not the original car they purchased.

I bought a 3 bed semi, i tried within my financial constraints to make it look like a nice 3 bed semi, i would not try to make it look like Buckingham palace because then it would look stupid and imho its the same with cars

In that case Sarah, why did you fit this monstrosity to the front of yours? ;)

veilside_front_bumper.jpg

because it was cheap as chips and i liked the rest of the kit, to be honest a bodykit does not change the overall look of the car. I prefer the std front end but i really liked the side skirts. I just dont like all the ott stuff some people do too cars, its when folks change absolutely everything on the car and it all starts looking a bit too much.

I must admit i like the veilside front end but it needs a plain paint job to look right imho.

well sometimes i like it, some times i dont, but i bought a Zed because i loved the Zed, to me modyfying now is all very generic and there is not enough originality.

Yes im guilty of it, however if the cash would have allowed i would have tried to make any modifications a little more off the peg, if that makes any sense

each to their own, but veilside stuff looks far too agressive and wouldnt have it anywhere near my wagon. A few styling mods with a bit more welly.

it really is each to their own!!

See i am not offended by the Veilside but i really do not care at all for 99spec bumpers.

sod it ill sell the zed and get a subaru with Lexarse lights and be really original lol ;)

I don't think it's aggressive at all. Just ugly.

was going to say that , but didnt want to go over the top lol

Interesting you should say that. That style of bumper is the most generic of them all! LOL

ajnova1.JPG

yes i see your point but i still maintain it did quite suit my car.

better than this one ive got now, i really want rid of that one lol

Style is very much down to personal choice, but its quality that makes the real difference.

There are far too many Cheap modifications done - Poor quality Fibreglass bodykit pieces, cheap overweight blingy alloys and inferior engine and suspension parts.

Im not into anything garish...and in particular if garish looks is its sole purpose (like Veilside bodykits and bits of trim that dont suit the original design).

There are so many different zed's that I could list in my top 10. Some just for looks others for there capablities.

Funkysi's zed is a great example of a Car with subtle changes and improvements that really make a difference.

Machine's Pentroof zed is a great example of a Highly modified example, that uses quality parts and is very much Function over form - but the end result is also very pleasing on the eye.

attachment.php?attachmentid=39412&stc=1

The right modifications on the right car applies to...for example

The spoiler on the SPL time attack is perfect for it, as its there to serve a strong purpose (see pic below), but on any other zed thats not built for the track it would be very wrong !

attachment.php?attachmentid=39414&stc=1

These are a couple of my other favourite examples (both of these widearch examples are custom sheet metal fabricated rather than fibreglass moulds):

attachment.php?attachmentid=39415&stc=1

attachment.php?attachmentid=39416&stc=1

My Previous Zed's had subtle styling and performance improvements.

My slicktop however is being built with High-end Competition use in mind - Time trials, Hillclimb, Track days (and maybe Time-attack entry). So the parts changed are there to serve a destinct purpose - Lightweight, Strength, performance...etc , but without turning it into a fully stripped out no-comprimise hardcore racer, as to me thats not what the zed is all about.

I buy a car because i like that car (otherwise, why fooking buy it)

Wise words Sarah......

......And Si from earlier post ;)

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

i think what i was trying to say, well i said it wrong, i know my zed is far from a respected model and yes the Veilsidebumper was probably a mistake ( although i still have a soft spot for it)

If Andy is on he knows what i was trying to say but ill try again lol

I think today the general requirement for "show cars" is a little to ott, its like a competition as to who has the brightest paint job and the most extra bits, at shows i would sooner view the club stands to the show and shine vehicles as imho they are all a little overstyled.
