I don't know what you mean :p Detailing has become a bit of an obsession for me now :D , here's the job I did on my current car, a black Alfa 155 - Alfa restoration . I did a similar restoration job on the last Z I owned (the 'Rat', for those that know me) but unfortunately I have lost all the pictures due to a hard drive failure just before Christmas.

Whats "apc" then ? Looks like good stuff for getting rid of grime.

APC is Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner, generally not available from high street stores, but really good stuff and can be diluted 10:1 and still be very effective. I think I got mine from http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk .

I got some small stone chips on the front of my 5 series Peach, when are you free :)

ok so how much does having your car cleaned like that cost?

Think I paid about £150 all in. That was an entire day detailing the paint. Not really a car wash, but reconditioning old tired paint (scratched, swirls, faided etc) or finishing off new paint (orange peel, buffer trails and haze etc). Unfortunately, we couldn't wax mine, polish only as the paint, at the time was only 2 or 3 weeks.

Rims cost me about £450 I think. Lot of man hours in those. But I sold my Rays wheels for about £700, so they paid for that and some.

How long did the that look last for and when you went to wash it did it look anything like the result on that day?

Well indefinitely, I had imperfections in the new paint removed. Even new paint from the factory has flaws in it, mild orange peal, buffer trails, light scratching and other things. That was the whole point of me having it done. To take the top coat to the next level by taking a small layer off to polish.

It's not as shiney as it was when it was first done, but it needs light work with a Porter cable to bring it back to exactly how I want it.
