Hi all.

Has anyone got an induction kit fitted to their zed? I'm thinking about getting one soon, I have a TT.

Do they make a noticable difference in the engine sound?

Which make do people favour? I've always liked HKS but here the filtration is rubbish and I dont wanna suck any crap into the turbo.

Theres a few cheap ones on ebay - not brand names but Im worried you get what you pay for.

I also have the Blitz one, I have seen them on ebay for around £275-£300 ish.

Also makes a nice sound :)

I have an Apexi on mine at the moment but it will soon be for sale when I get the doolz dual intake and twin JWT filters fitted along with a few other bits n pieces

I got mine from zcenter, i think it was only £150 though.

try not to get a foam type as they get swamped with water and can give your maf a bad day,ive had both and the apexi prevails

dont go hks, thats what ive got, as soon as they get the slightest bit damp they fook the maf sensor, im waiting for my third maf to be deliverd and changing to apexi induction as well,

Think I will avoid the HKS one. Just had a look at that link from quavey! Apexi for me I think. Car mad says the blitz sounds good... Can anyone with an Apexi tell me is there a noticable difference in the engine sound?

oh yes, plenty of induction roar and the motor seems to spool up faster than other filters (or it could be me wishfull thinking) but its a vast inprovment over the oem air box which i bet you £10 you cant get out without drawing blood on your hands

thanks znut. I'm going to try and get an apexi for it then. And as for the tenner... No way!!! I've had the panel between the headlights off and the standard airbox looks a nightmare to get out

You're right there, you did save some £££'s. :)

just found it. this is the style i have.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Blitz-Sonic-Power-Induction-kit-Toyota-Supra-JZA80-TT_W0QQitemZ350009720285QQihZ022QQcategoryZ36680QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p1638.m118

There is also, im guessing the older model http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mitsubishi-EVO-1-2-3-Blitz-SUS-Induction-Kit_W0QQitemZ150197497059QQihZ005QQcategoryZ36680QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Who knows?? but im impressed with the sound but cannot say about any power??

i bought mine for 20 quid off ebay aint gone wrong yet i put it next to my mates KnN and the material looks exactly the same just diferent colour the fitting is spot on with no leaks etc.... Dont think id spend 250 for an induction kit. As long as they can flow enough air thru and no crap gewts sucked in it doesnt realy make a diference IMO anyway, if your going for serious mods then suppose youl need a real expensive precise one.

i had a cheap one off ebay £60 with pipes for my mr2. and the filter was glued on to the metal base, after a few month it had come away. so i have no idea how long the car was sucking crap up.

I would keep an eye on it

nope this one is not like that at all, nothing can come apart on it its solid, it came with a new mount etc which had to be bolted on with a rubber gasket between it, only thing it needed were bolts which i have loads of anyway. i will keep an eye on it but im quite happy with it and sure it will do just as well:)

just have to be caeful where you mount them, you dont want to get any water spray, but then you dont want it too restricted.

That's the whole idea bud, cheap filters are made to look like branded ones to help sales. Man look at what yer got for 20 bucks and think just how good is this gonna be, once you've seen the results of a few engines/turbo's after poor filtration you'll know what yer got for that 20 quid. Chances of you seeing something going wrong is very slight, it's how much crap it filters out is what's important.

Not suggesting you pay 250 quid for a better one, however for well under a 100 quid one of the highest flowing filters on the market today is the apexi's.

The 1st and possibly most important part of tuning an engine that can cost thousands to rebuild and yer pay 20 quid, yikes!!

smithy

il take me chances, i can always put on a KnN end. and when she blows she blows more excuse to go mad and rebuild a beast :)

Also you have the Z1 intakes...

Some of the more expensive filters can suck up crap mind. I have a HKS on my Mr2 N/A at the mo. It sounds ace but I dont wanna put one on my zed after looking at the filtration reviews.

Z1 intakes???
