Having time to reflect on the future recently, how many people would actually be prepared to buy a genuine 99 spec ZX. I estimate prices to be approx £7 - £9K OTR...

They first came out in October 1998, so by August next year i'll be seriously looking to get some over. However will the demand be there enough for me o invest time/effort to monitor selling prices/availability over the next 6/7 months?

Thx Lee

I should think that alot on here would be interested, and the ones that know the ZX, But still i think it would be very limited market.

Buy 2 at a time and see how it goes, They will always sell just not as fast as others :)

Yeah I supose a handful will always sell, after July there won't be much time to wait before we can seriously think about 99 spc ZX's, and that's when i'll be switched on again... also the non-turbo 99 spec ZX's are so much easier t get hold of, the TT's are few and far between. Does anyone actually know the production numbers of 1998-2000 TT ZX's?

not got a clue lol!! the TT would be the one to have tho.

Any ideas why they can out in oct 98 and its called a 99 spec

That's when they were manufactured, think they are called 99 spec because most would have not been sold until 1999, but AFAIK they began production in October 1998...

The 99 spec 300ZX was indeed introduced in Oct 98. Nissan announced it on Oct 7th.

Production figures were extremely low.

Total production for 97 was only 1024 cars for the whole year.

Dec 97 had only 40 cars registered.

so expect 98 and 99 figures to me worse than that.... much worse. Anecdotal comments by Brian Long in his book mention monthly sales dropping in to single figures.

Crikey!! doesn't sound too rosy, any idea on production numbers for 98/99?

1998 - Total Production 780

1999 - Total Production 449

2000 - Total production 184

Obviously not all 98's were 99 spec cars but its a start

Also one note to add, all official exports had stopped by 96, with only 320 leaving the country so all in Japan (officialy)

Thats taken from Brian longs later book, where he states his figures in earlier books were wrong.

Yeah??

Is that right???

Deffo NOT IMO. ;)

Find me a little Version S 2 Seater NA manual slicktop,

would need to be in one of the unique 99 colours tho..... Lightning Yellow or Sonic Silver.

optional BBs wheels and HIDs would be good too :D :D

imagen. swb, TT, sliktop, manual 99 spec if there was one ££££££££

if you have that pete, i'll have the one you have at the moment!!

You dont want his you should keep the TT :p

I want 2... but i just want his car, he knows why!

I think most of us will need to be very lucky to get any 99 spec cars here . I suspect that many of these late cars are already safely tucked away in enthusiasts garages in Japan and wont be offered on general sale.

There are just as many enthusiasts out there as there are hear.

however people like Lee will be well placed to find any out for sale with his connections to specialist garages over there.

Not many will get to the big auctions I dont imagine :nono:

and then...... ;)

Well yes and no on that one Pete, I recently saw an amazing 2000 yr model 2+2 TT go through the regular auctions, it had the full sideskirt package and had under 50KM's!!, and it as in midnight purple!! But against that I have seen so few 98/99 TT's go through which is why I asked about production numbers...

If I get enough interest I will target all the genuine 99 spec TT's, and may even plan a trip out to Japan later on in the year if it will be beneficial to get hold of them, obviously if i'm out there i'll buy some other cars but the ZX will be on top of my list:)

Thx for the input all round ;)

i'll have a manual swb tt please
;) , will try ;)

Quite normal in the motor industry.

Manufacturers announce "next year's" model towards the end of the previous year; launch it at a show somewhere and then put it on sale just before the start of the new year.

It's a great sales pitch - ".........buy next year's model now, before anyone else.....!!"

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

If I was in the market for a Z32, then I'd deffo be up for one. But I'd not replace mine for one and I doubt I'll get another Z32. It's NSX time next providing the treasury don't tax us out of Sports cars by then.

Still a lot of car for the money at that price.

I'd be in the market..and trade mine for nowt for the right car..I'd sell my mother for a grey SWB TT...

:) Cool, just had a look earlier on and it seems that in the later years the non-turbo's are much more readily available so will have to see what becomes available.... I did however see an absolute mint 1996 2+2 manual TT with a genuine 23,000 miles from new available in Japan... UK price on the road would be approx £10.5 - £11K:shock:
