Having time to reflect on the future recently, how many people would actually be prepared to buy a genuine 99 spec ZX. I estimate prices to be approx £7 - £9K OTR...

 

They first came out in October 1998, so by August next year i'll be seriously looking to get some over. However will the demand be there enough for me o invest time/effort to monitor selling prices/availability over the next 6/7 months?

The 99 car has lots of subtle differences.

 

Stiffer chassis

Improved brakes (?bigger master cylinder)

Later interior including inserts, centre console, white dials etc

Different lights front and rear and rear centre pannel.

Different front bumper

Factory mirror tinted rear glass

Rain repellant glass

Red front Z badge

 

Other things too which aren't doccumented I think like the auto dimming cabin light, light up window buttons etc

 

 

I bought mine four years ago and it hasn't had a single problem in all that time and 30,000 miles (that's cursed it!). It's an NA so I'd maybe like a 1999/2000 TT or version-r.

interesting thread! as some of you may know I had a 99 spec lookalike zed which I wrote off... since I havent been able to decide on a suitable replacement! i would be interested in a genuine 99 spec car and I've been looking into ways of getting one, i was thinking of importing a twin turbo and doing a one off noise and emissions test but havent got the balls to take a chance in case it doesnt pass...

Yes when they are just out of ESVA reg's, is pointless trying to get the model report done now:)

(and SWB only available as Slicktop after 96)

If my new job ever comes off ( :rolleyes: ) then I'd be VERY interested in a full Version R, TT, LWB, in Lightning Yellow and with as many options as possible :D Preferably with the Chrome OEM wheels and not the BBS ones.....
