Icy road + heavy right foot = one less Z on the road...

IMG00043.jpg

Entering the M3 at junction 6 southbound, took it easy through the roundabout and left turn onto the slip road, got on the gas just as I straightened up and next thing I know I'm heading backwards into the verge. :headvswal

Cars on the way home so I can inspect the damage in detail. Just found out the wife changed the insurance coverage from full comp to liability only two months ago as she was trying to reduce the premium! I'll put up some better pictures soon, I need some honest opinions on if it's worth repairing. After all the time I've put into getting it just the way I wanted it, my heart tells me to fix it, but my head says breaking time...

Gutted!

Doesn't look too bad - but difficult to tell from the pics. Wheel on my old Zed was at an amazing angle after I went into a steel post, but I got it sorted in the end - hopefully will be an easy fix for you too!

If the steering rack's damaged, I have one which I bought from Andy@supercar parts but never got round to fitting...

Rich

NOOOOO. OMG Im sooo gutted hun, :(

{big hugs} At least you are ok! It could of been ALOT worse.

:(

No way! Feel for you matey, i was out playing on the roundabouts last night and it was VERY slippy.

Post some more pics up in daylight and peeps would be able to give a better idea. When you moved the car, did it roll ok, or were theyre obvious mechanical faults?

Thanks for the kind words! Seemed to roll OK although the steering was very stiff so may need the steering rack. Left rear exhaust was bent back under the car although the left side looked untouched. Cant believe how quick it came around, it went from straight ahead to backwards in less than a second. All I could do was hold on and wait for the impact. Anyway I'm still walking so it could have been a lot worse.

shame hun, definatly was not fun driving this morning in Hampshire!

Err I may know jack shit about cars or anything at that but just yell if you need us :)

Absolutly gutted for ya mate. Such a tidy little SWB too.

As already said tho... no personal injuries.

Just a little dented ego which will soon fix.

got a wing if you need.

Bloody hell mate hope its not to bad. Glad your o.k mate, if you need any bits just give me a bell as im sure i have most bits lying around !

Damn sorry to hear about that m8. Hope your ok. At the end of the day your whats important the car is a just a piece of metal. It did its job. Hopefully in daylight it won't look so bad and you can get it fixed soon.

Sorry to hear about this Marco, these cars do swap ends in no time..

If you need running round locally to collect any parts for the repair, give me a shout.. I have an old LWB Pajero for the winter months, so handy for picking up those larger bits.

All the best.

Oh sweetie!

My heart goes out to you

Been there myself...

You know I adore your Zed :hyper:

Your Zed is beautiful and will be again!

Good luck with all the repairs

That is such a shame mate. hope you can get it fixed.

If I can help in any way just let me know...

Sorry to hear about that marco, nice clean car aswell, at least you were not hurt apart from needing clean underpants. Just think, all the way to Holland, a drive around the new forest without incident and a bloody hampshire roundabout bites you in the butt.

Hope you get it sorted, i wouldnt break it in my opinion, have a good xmas mate.

Thanks again everyone for the kind words. You make a bad situation a little easier to take and make me glad I'm part of such a great club.

Well, car arrived a couple of hours ago and I've been tearing it to pieces to inspect for damage.

Looks OK on the nearside -

Rear just has a few scratches, except for the exhaust which is completely twisted -

Far side is a different story -

Now here's the bit that has me worried -

Whats wrong with this picture?

IMG_2784.jpg

Engine is sitting high on the right side. Looks like the motor mount is broken -

So, looking for your honest opinions and technical advice.

(The first person that mentions T-Cut is a dead man!)

Id personally whip the engine out to get a better idea of what the rest of the engine bay is like (ie bent/twisted etc), but am i right in thinking that the engine has risen on the opposite side of where the point of impact was??

its going to need going into a jig by the looks bud :( "is it fixable??" my answer would be its such a nice car and you have the winter so yes go for it.

ps: i have a black bonnet if you need, cant really tell if its intact by pics

Spot on Nick, impact on the far side, motor up on the near side. It's hard to see in the pics but something is broken at or around the mount. I'm just hoping the block isn't damaged.

T CUT, T CUT :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:  Sorry Bud ,hope you sort it and when you do.fit "RACE LOGIC TRACTION CONTROL

mate im gutted for ya but like its been said before fix it hope it doesnt put a damper on your xmas all the best

Bloody hell Marco :( Sorry to hear that bud :( I have an entire front subframe assembly with wishbones, rack, the lot if you need it. Probable reason for the engine sitting like that, is that its sat on the subframe and thats bent....

Marco...... WTF???!!!

Sorry to hear that Mate.

From one SWB owner to another - Don't give up on it, keep it on the road it's too rare.

May have a few bits kicking around if you know what you need.

Andy

Its fixable.

I had this one done. And bear in mind the door opening was two inches shorter than the door when he started it on the jig.

Its just a case of finding the right man for the job and saving costs by stripping it all down yourself and sourcing the parts like I did.
