you need to be very careful in the damp or wet, they can bite you in the rear end. :D at least you will know for next time.

youve done well not to do that if youve had it 3 weeks. if its jap put it in hold and let it drive on th torque... nothing can happen 2 quickly and they still go fairly well!

Soon makes you respect it buddy LOL !!!

The day I picked up my Z I managed to fishtail in it and nearly hit the central reservation. My bum hole was working on overboost!

Again, a very very wet day, following a Fiesta full of old croaks (always seems to be Fiestas doesn't it! LOL) Pulled out of a roundabout onto a dual carriage way, I was making a point of being careful with the throttle....although not careful enough and the car started to go sideways. Corrected and it went the otherway, but managed to gently bring it under control.

Another reason I don't drive it in the wet, because I hate driving it the wet.

I'v had a couple of close shaves in the wet, best advice - just take it easy. ;)

At least you got it under control and nothing more serious happened. :)

I love driving in the wet, but it's better still with the manual box.

I had a couple of hairy moments in mine when I had the old Jspec tyres on, changed tyres and its much better now but it will still bite you quicker than a Fer-de-Lance if you dont give it the respect it deserves

what is the correct way to control the back end stepping out like that in a RWD car?

It happened to me (in a manual) in the wet when i was coming out of a long left turn and hit the gas too early and it started to drift out. In my panic i think it turned left and braked and it spun. No one injured thank god.

I know braking is wrong as you have to give it more power to push the weight back to rear wheels so they can re-grip and right themselves but which way do you turn?

I guess i was turning the wheel right when it happened as i was coming out of the left hander but the wheels must have still be pointing left by some degree.

Thinking about it logically shouldnt you try and get the front wheels pointing straight so all 4 wheels are pointing in the same direction but when it re-grips it will be pointing you further left in a direction where you are almost going back in the direction you came.

Or should you point the front wheels in the direction you want to go when it has corrected (as in straight up the road) so when the back wheels have gripped you will be pushed straight up the road?

I know i should understand my car better but i now take it very easy in the wet and now have Toyo Proxes on the back which seem alot more grippy.

Not really. I don't want my car looking like this....

Actually Meguiars Gold will get that reddun back to normal in no time at all..................

That's what the guy in Halfords said anyway :p :p :p

if the back end kicks out mate slightly turn into it and back off on the accelerator i know there is probably a better way to do it but that worked for me ....mines an n/a with a few performance mods and it still does it to me mostly on roundabouts with the missus in the passenger seat it still makes my botty go like a rabbits nose the worst thing i think you can do is hit the brakes so im told

I hate to say this but my vRS Octy would run rings around a Zed in the wet and damp. I'm still unsure of the slight over-steer efect of the HICAS system - and the RWD of the Zed is not as re-assuring as the FrontWD of the Skud.

Still, if Michael Schummi drove it he'd say 'what problem do you mean in the wet?'

Something to aim for then??

Control comes with experience. Experience comes with time. Never mind having more control in a manual. Although to a degree its true. Many 300ZX drivers have the odd moment, but manual or auto they both need an amount tenderness and without that tenderness you can find yourself in a lot of trouble.

Si......Anyone who says things like "Another reason I don't drive it in the wet, because I hate driving it the wet" the more I think they should have bought a 2.0 Mondeo estate.

Then dont? :mac1:

Mind you. We have had Fiesta's beating 300Zx's so why not a Skoda? :D

Backing right off the gas is the best way to spin, you should back off but only about 50% as to not cause a pendulum effect

some gud points here . i think my main problem was not expecting the box to shift down into 2nd gear , i have had a lot of autos (a e34 540 bmw 3 auto supra turbos a stag ) the bmw was around the same bhp as the 300zx tt , never had any probs with them doing it , the only other thing is my car has 17 inch 245 40 profile tires on the back and i know fat tires are crap in the wet , anyway im gonna be using the hold button from now on

you should of clicked out of o/d first with a slight bit of throttle so as not to endure to much engine braking then just increased speed from there, remember after 80km the t/c is locked up and in the wet high rpm with less throttle (hence less boost) is the way forward and not sideways
