Just wondered if top gear ever reviewed the 300, seen it raced a few times. Would like to know what they thought of it

Search for ages and the closest i got was an episode where it appeared for 30 seconds in a review on a porsche and jag.

Not particularly interesting

As bantambunny said, i was on screen for about 3 minutes and it was basically suggested as an jap alternative to the jag xjs or porsche 911 carrera.

Never really got a proper review, but saying that i dont know of many early 90's jap cars that did. The only one i can think of was the R33GTR

The old top gear did a test of the 300zx, it wasnt a new car test but was about 10 mins long id i remember. It was done by that steve bloke i think.

Clarkson did do a review on the 300zx when it was new, but it's never been copied and uploaded to youtube or anything. Might be worth getting in touch with BBC.

This is still my favourite:

Doesn't the winning TT belong to someone on here?

Clarkson reviewed the 300 when it first come out, and supprisingly gave it teh 2 thumbs up. Back in the day the car was the best of its Ilk out there by a country mile. I might be wrong on this but I am sure he has the 300 listed in his altime fav cars.

They did a piece in 97/98, it was either Tiff Nidel or Quenton wilson covering it. The whole premice was what a used car bargain they were.

I remember they ran each of the cars on a rolling road with one owner claiming his had more than 600BHP, this was never proven as there rollers binned it at 550 and his car was still pulling strong.

The reasion I remember this is that it was this segment, and subsaquently seeing one in the flesh in the car park of where I was working at the time that made me want to get one.

10 years on and I've still not done it.

I think it WAS Gio's.

It sure was (and now Zairs unless I'm mistaken) and the 350 was mine. :hyper:

BTW, that race was run twice and the first time it was much closer - the second time he lifted off to make his point about cars getting heavier and taking the edge of the performance. Which was the whole point at the time.

In actual fact, it's quite misleading, as I think the 300 and 350 weigh roughly the same - it's just that the 300 is marginally a fast car as stock.

Also, I know I've banged on about this before - but having just read all the shite accompanying the video on Youtube, it's just re-awakened the passion to set the record straight.
