Hi!

Im going to buy some new turbos for my project and I cant choose between the Garrett GT725R and the JWT700bb.

Anyone who has these turbos or any with experienses about them?

The GT725R has a higher powerband but are a bit more laggy, but how much I wonder..

My aim is 700-750RWHP, I got everything else done to reach this effect....

There pretty much the same turbo :)

All the new garrett gt range are good turbos so you cant go wrong with them really, to get the most make sure you have sus manifolds ;)

you wont get 700-750 rwhp with those!! to get 700++ rwhp you will need either td06-20g's or if you want to go the garret way then the GT3071 turbos will get you close but both are pretty big turbos LOL so both will be pretty laggy and not see much below 4000 revs

My apprentice has fitted a gt3071 to his pulsar.the inlet snail is huge with a 100mm inlet.very laggy turbo even on a 4 cylinder.when it finally comes on boost its awesome and capable iirc of running 2 bar.

I got the manifolds cams and portwork done, so I think I can reach 750RWHP with the GT725R..... Or not?

The main issue is that the car is mainly driven in the street with some days on the track.. I hope to get this power but have driveable car at the same time..

So you would go for the 725?

why go for 750 if you want a drivers car? you need to build a project around how you want to drive your car, and that may end up lower HP but you get exactly what you want out of it

no them turbos simply wont reach anywhere near that power!! dnt believe the usa bhp

725's will make 600 at the most ;)

saying that after driving various cars from 300/400/500/600/700 etc bhp i would say a 500 rwhp is about right for a bloody fast street car, anything else is just getting laggy :D

I'd agree with what people are saying here about the level of hp for a street car. I think mine is running somewhere in the region of 450 (maybe a little more - remains to be dyno'd) at 1.4 bar on 555s - and i have to say the explosion of power that you get in 1st and 2nd makes them pretty much unexploitable in anything other than perfect conditions - and let's face it, if they're being reined in by the TC all the time - why waste all that power in the first place?

Once you get going, however, 3rd and 4th are incredible (IMO)... So I don't think I'd want any more power as it stands. TBH, it's blisterring acceleration that I love about the Z and not huge speeds - perhaps with these massive turbos you're not going to get the full benefit to well into 3 figures? Too fast for my licence.

Just IMO, of course...

JB.

ok,so maybe I will be a bit disapointed ...

Talked to JWT yesterday and they said that I could reach my desired effect with my mods...

Funny about the hp levels..A friend of mine has dynoed his car with 400+ cams, GT675RS and stock manifolds and internals---result 505RWHP at 1,3bar..The manifolds was the break here..

I will go for the GT then...

Hi mate, what engine management are you and yer friend running for the big bhp figures ? ;)

the GT3071 is one of the most efficient turbos available at this moment.

Here's a Zed with a twin GT3071 setup.

car struggles to get the power down, but lag seems ok....above 4000 rpm that is... ;)

We are running with the AEM ems, its plug and be playful :hyper: :hyper:

>> thats got to be in kph! never in mph

it's mph ! (it's a US-spec car... 160 mph clock)

and if you think a twin GT3071 setup is not enough, you can always go for these :D

hmmm tubular manifolds with a crack in them - no news there then :smash:

big turbos for a zed though would have thought they would be ideal for a drag car but not much use on the street

Ive just bought the AEM EMS to go with my GT675RS turbos an some other stuff, how easy was it to setup? Anything I need to look out for/problems getting it to work?

The setup is pretty much straight forward.

You have to log in to the AEM forum and search for a map with the same components as you are, download this map into your AEM, this may save you for a bit work. Remember to ajust the ignition correctly and program it with the right injectors etc.

What type of injectors and cams do you use?

Thanks for replying.

Will be using 740cc injectors and stock cams initially maybe upgrading (the cams) in the future sometime.

with 400+ cams and manifolds you can easy reach 550RWHP with the right mods and those turbos :p :hyper:

Yeah also getting Mike Smith manifolds, Z1 downpipes and test pipes, Greddy SMIC`s 88mm forged pistons and rods, cams will come later once that lot is all settled in and running nicely - should be fun :nana2:
