as above help needed i was driving along the daul carrige way today going up a hill and lost all drive turned car off for 5 mins then started in again and i had normal drive again then about 600yrds up the road now on flat lost drive again so repaeted the proccess again off then on again and i got all drive back agian and it did this 4 times in the space of about 2 miles any one know what could do this cheers

'lost drive'?, do you mean it was as if it was in neutral?

Was it still running?

well still held its self in park but in drive just reved no movement and yes still running

I'm no expert, but my jag xjs did this after a long, fast drive.Would only move in reverse, even then not properly.

An oil+ filter(dont know if zx's have one) change was enough to sort it.

not yet mate but will do just gathering all info i can before i start working on it anything else

Sounds like blocked filter to me too, when you leave the car off for a while the rubbish falls off the filter allowing it to pass oil for a while until it blocks again.

 

Trouble is the reason there is crap in there is because the box is on its last legs, probably.
