Well, £3000 later I got my Zed back into action with a rebuilt top-end, new Clutch, flywheel, Unortho pulley etc.

Unfortunately I'm not going to get insurance for it; so packed it away in the Garage for the winter and intend to declare it SORN.

..did think about just selling

I do plan on towing it to a track or two over the next 6 months.

i.e. should I try and start it for 10 minutes every week or two? or it is ok to let it sit there for months at a time ??

No, unless you're going to actually drive it and run it up to operating temperature for a decent amount of time then no. You'll cause more problems, ie, just leaving a car idling from cold is far worse than just getting in and driving it. Not just that, but running it for short periods of time will cause condensation and will result in mayonnaise build up in the oil. You don't want to be introducing water to the oil and cold starts do this. Without burning it off it just stays in the engine.

Sounds daft, but take a battery terminal off. Your battery will last AGES without a drain on it. It's a mega pi$$ off when you have to go buy a battery just to fire it up and move it.

im not being nosey but how come you can not get insurance for it?

You have missread Sarah.

He's NOT getting insurance for it. (Sorry for hi-jacking your thread.)

its no a bad thing to start it and let it run once a week as it helps keep oil in all the right places and stops belts etc from going hard in one place !
