Hi all

Have just done a matrix bpass. See this thread http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=101140

All seems to work fine but the stock temp gauge is stil acting strangley. At first it seems like it is not working, then it will go up to the usual middle position, and occasionaly it will go almost to the top. The electric fan keeps kicking in as well at times.

Now does this mean that there is an air lock in the extra piping I have put in or is a usual thing with the bypass?

it means you have an air lock unfortunately matey !

try running the car from cold for a good 20 mins with the cap off and keep topping up the water until it doesn't go down anymore and there is no more air bubbles emerging !

as above but take bleed screw out when topping up too helps get the air out both sides of the rad....but if you have a n/a i dont think n/a rads have a bleed screw...oh well someone here will be in the know

Cheers guys. Just got to wait for it to cool down first. Will it help if I park it with the front higher?

yes a slope is helpful

And give it a couple of goes on the throttle up to 2-3000 revs, gets the pump to give everything a good push, worked great for me.

Cheers guys that seems to have solved the problem. Took probably another 2 litres or so, Lets hope that I haven't done any damage although it didn't go off the scale on the temp gauge, just kept going up and down.

Darrell

when it was up really high, thats when the air was passing the sender instead of water.

So your water temp may not have actually got that high
