I've just been reading some 300zx turbo reviews, lots of talk about 'great for sunday, but too unreliable for everyday'

Seems people will think me mad, if i use mine as my daily driver.

So....Who here uses their zed frequently, or all the time?

I used my previous Black TT and Silver NA everyday...and if you can afford the fuel costs they are great daily drivers !

Both were very reliable for me too and (exluding fuel costs) actually cost me less in 3 years to maintain and repair than any of my much newer cars!

I'd rate there reliablity far higher than most other cars there age.....in fact most cars there age have long gone to scrapyard heaven !

My Slicktop will be a little too extreme for a daily driver though

I bought my LWB Twin Turbo ZX in 2001 and for the first 2 years I used it as a daily driver. I wouldn't say it was particularly unreliable but it was very expensive. I wouldn't do it again. I had my engine rebuilt and a lot of mod work carried out at Nisstek (SE) in 2004 and since then she sits in the garage, gets polished and gets used on dry weekends.

i use mine as a daily driver. if you are worried about breaking down, then my advice is catch the bus. any car can break down regardless of its age.

There are a lot of members that use their 300ZX as an everyday car. I dont I use my Skyline but thats only to preserve its longevity not because I am worried it might break. TBH I think that a skyline has as much chance of breaking as the 300ZX does. AND I have a company van.

Hehe any excuse to buy a skyline ay Vini :P Well i use mine as a everyday car!To and from town, out and about!you name it i drive it!Car has been fine done nearly 2kmiles already and not a splutter!

Got her in for a service in a few weeks as im abit anal about these things. All should be well and Clear Mind Once Again! Oh its LWB Twin Turbo Manual if anybody wanted to know!

Plus i love to ride with the Targa's off so all the ladies can see me XD

Had mine for 3 weeks and broke it hehe, but I love breaking down. Lol i can see one of your eye brows raising now thinking WTF. Everytime my a car brakes it gets me learning something new about the car everytime. And after so long you get to know the cars in and outs like the back of your hand.

Same with my mr2 did'nt know jack about it until i started playing with things and braking down. OOOH its all good fun

I used my TT every day as a commuting car, never ever had any problems with it.

Comfortable (well the stock one was anyway lol) and quiet.

Use it rarely but not because of the reliability [it has been pretty dam good]

but with running a business and family just cannot warrant the time :(

Promised myself beginning of the year that i will use it more, and i have to be fair up to 1400 miles this year as opposed to 400/500 miles per year since ownership

mine is an everyday car, with all the tuning too ;)

seems somehow sacreligious to own a beautiful, fast car and just drive it now and then, i really dont get that mentality at all i am afraid.

just do it and to hell with every one else ;)

Only reason I dont use mine everyday is because of the 60 mile a day commute. Used to cost me £600 in fuel. Now i have an astra for commuting and the monthly fuel bill is about £200.

So it just makes sense.

I do get out in the Z as often as I can tho and still drive it to work on sunny days :)

I used to use mine everyday, it's only when my annual mileage jumped from 8-10,000 to 20,000 that I got something else. However, for the first 5 or so years I covered 50,000 with no problems.

It's all down to the individual, for me I just use mine now and again. I couldn't justify using it everyday and spending it all that money on fuel. I'd rather run a cheap daliy driver so I can afford to have a nicer house and holidays etc.

Used mine as a daily driver for 2.5 years when i lived 30miles from work. Then when i worked for myself and travelled Uk wide it was economically unjustifyable and i retired it to weekends/evenings and a got

weekend car.

The insurance would be too much, with the mods too expensive to run daily and most importantly it gives me something to look forward to after a carppy week.

With obvious exceptions to the rule, I agree. I have the choice thats my exception. BUT! I dont understand why some people use their pride and joy only for shows. But each to thier own?

It's a shame I can only use mine weekdays as I have to lug the family round with me at the weekend, if you are worried about reliablity get something else. When I have had a busy day at work I can't wait to drive home with the roofs off, seems to make me forget!

I use mine everyday, so have really missed it since the bang,7 weeks ago, but its ready on monday and cant wait

I used my TT as a daily driver, and now my NA, and probably my TT again, now I've bought it back.. LOL

But I only do about 30 miles a week

What he said......

......although I no longer use mine everyday. But I simply wanted a newer car however I couldn't bear to part with the ZX, so I kept it for occasional use.

I still use it at least twice a week and I'm taking it to the Lake District on a week's holiday tomorrow. I expect I'll cover 1500-2000 miles in the week and would prefer to do it in the ZX

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I am thinking about a na as a daily driver as the tubby is a bit thirsty and a bit too tempting to go fast in as well
