Iv noticed that the back end of my Z wobbles, almost as if the hicas is all over the shop, I looked into it and found the HICAS hub that should be plugged into the steering wheel stashed under the dash! could this be the problem?

I wouldn't have thought it would make the back and move about if it was in the same place though? But i dont know how the sytem works.

Any ideas? or am i best getting a HICAS eliminator thing?, or could it be something else?

When I first got mine it had a wobbly rear end. It was more noticeable over bumps and on one particular stretch of road. I'm sure it felt worse than it looked from behind.

The fix for me was 2 new Hicas ball joints, luckily it was the outer ones.

HICAS eliminator STILL requires the standard balljoints so will not cure the problem. Are you sure its not your shocks? Inner balljoints are easier to replace than the outers ;)

feels to much like a sideways movement to be the shocks i think, How do i find out which HICAS ball joint is goosed? just jack her up and give her a shake?

Cheers Robo and thanks again andy, think i must owe you a few pints over the years! :duffer:

I've got the same problem, think the 'tiny' amount of movement in the outer bushes, mot man found has progressed.

Yep jack the back end up by the diff and give the wheel a wobble - if you can feel play get someone to see which end has the movement in it. You'd be surprised at how much the back end moves about if the shocks are gone too ;)

When you push down on a corner the car should come straight back up and not bounce, also if the shock covers are making marks on the strut part then thats a sign they are getting tired, and leaks!

but before you do all that check your tyre pressure, lol

hmmm think mine are ok,,, but i know for sure that when i jack up the car both wheels have play left to right but not up and down...... hicas joints???????????????????

Rear end stability is not great on the Z32 at the best of times.

I have replaced the shocks, springs and the outer HICAS ball joints and added a cusco strut brace each of which has made a massive difference - even down to the continental tyres.

but the HICAS will allways make the rear less than perfect when trying to take it to the limit - mostly when it turns off at 80mph and the rear wheels move - that has been the reason for most of my trips into the scenery..........

yup thats ya ball joints!!!!

got the same problem.

i had the same problem on mine when it first came from japan i took it to protyre in bristol they have a four wheel steer laser alignement although you think your driving straight the vehicle is crabbing hence the unstableness on the back end ,this did solve mine and the tyres last alot longer too its worth giving those guys a call its about £40/60 depending on how many are out

Don't mess around and wait, get the damn things changed and done sharpish.

You have been told, don't compromise yours and others safety.

I cured my wobbley back end and stupid rear tyre wear rate by fitting a Hicas Eliminator Bar. No more wobble or stupid tyre wear.

I recommend you fit one.
