In that case, yes, but not an Auto and didn't really 'give it any'. Nice to drive though. Always liked the Galant. Is the earlier 2.0 V6 or the newer 2.5?

Heaven forbid if I had kids/gits, I'd be hunting for a Legnum/Sigma (estate) VR4

Most are tiptronic gearboxes which may not be to everyones taste. I also believe they are quite heavy as they are more of a touring car.

You might want to ask Phil D if he's still subscribed - he owned one for a number of years. There's also a small owners forum somewhere - sorry, can't remember the name.

HTH,

Depends which model. Early ones had either conventional auto or 5 speed manual iirc.

the cars not very old so id say its the 2.5

Similar, but smaller lump to the GTO/3000GT then. Still a fast machine. But probably a pig to work on....more so than the Z from what I've read.

Heaven forbid if I had kids

You'll get no argument from me

OOOOOOOOOH Poor little fookers

:nelson:

VR4 owners club? One of them was in UJCC forum and was a right track junkie. He was as fast as or faster than pretty much everyone there including me in my 400bhp Zed, several high power Skylines, Supras,Evos etc. They are quality cars, although not sure how practical to run as a track car. I'd deffo consider it though and do some research.

Auto is exactly ideal for enjoying track driving mind, but ok if you just want to press the big pedal and go.

Do you mean 'isn't'? I couldn't drive an auto on track. Need engine braking on tap!

wasnt sure bout an auto but i thougt it was alot of car for the money but i could

be wrong!!!

You don't need engine breaking Si, all that will do is wear your clutch the wrong way, you'll pay £500 for a clutch instead of £60 for pads! plus you can't control the weight distribution of the car doing that.

....

What category insurance write of it is ? "C" or "D" is perfectly repairable for the road, anything worse than that It would have to have caused severe structual damage and weakness that would make not what to take it on the track !

Really? One thing I hate is not being in control of the engine. As a preference, I'd still sooner drive a manual round a track than an auto and I've owned both.

Yes deffo a manual for track. What I meant is that engine breaking isn't an advisable technique to use, unless you mean heel and tow to match you revs first in which case fair enough but just changing down a gear will cause problems.

didnt ask but its from a yard i buy a lot of damaged repairables but i think the cost of repairing it out wayed the cars value

quarter damage both sides bonnet and wings head lamps etc etc and doors up both sides damaged

but drives ok from what i could see

Oh right I see. I still like to be able to hold a gear longer, if entering into a corner, to select the required gear whether engine braking or not....it's there if you need/want it.

Yeah , deffo. I wouldn't go near an auto after my first Zed had one. Can't stand the things. I can see why people stuck in traffic jams everyday like them but I do everything possible to avoid rush hour, and want a manual to enjoy the buzz of driving, I love the sound of the throttle blipping on the downshifts :) especially when its accompanied by a pop and a bang on over run haha. Bit of a tangent, sorry to hijack.

Tell you what I used to own...or rather was given. When I used to work for the MOD about 6 years ago, there was a chap there who I worked with who had loads of legal cars just sat doing nothing. He gave me an H plate 3.0 Senator Auto to have as a daily driver and I bloody loved it. Autos are great as every day mile munchers. I'd still have an Auto, but for a fun machine I certainly would not.

galants in general are lovely to drive i had the 2.5 v6 sport so refined, and quick!
