Has anyone tried 'www.ztech.co.uk' for parts and work? Looks like quite a new site and seems promising to me. I'm thinking of doing an engine rebuild in the next few months with them. Not too sure where the best place is to go at the mo with the old rebuilds. I'd even settle for a place that sells tuned Z engines, if anyone knows where..

Only place that sells 'out-of-the-box' tuned engines is Z1 motorsport in the US.

Not heard particularly good things about Ztech. So many complaints flying round on here when they were forum traders.

User 'Jimmer' on here will build you an engine to your spec. He rebuilt my engine, has his own 500bhp worthy motor in his Z and is currently building Glenn's new engine. Infact, that one's now built and ready to go in.

Cheers for that. I'll look him up and see if he's willing to do the job :)

PM me if you want/need his contact details.
I was about to say lol. I tried to pm Jimmer and he can't be pm'd or emailed ;)
Here's his dyno results. This engine hadn't even been set up and was only just run in before this dyno. Infact out of about 5 or 6 Zs and 15+ Supras on the day it was done, it was the most powerful car at the recent SW RR day....

That's the sort of thing we all aim to have! :D

Jimmer has done a brilliant job so far on my car and it's nice to have someone take real pride in their work for a change. I'll be posting up some pics of the rebuild soon

I think Ztech was/is Ryan/Baggins who used to be on here.

He used to have a good reputation but he might have falled out with someone or something.

I heard that its back in but not running yet. Its in the hole but awaiting engine mounts.

Ztech is indeed Ryan / Baggins. They did a lot of work on my Z and helped me out quite a bit - even at very short notice. Were they perfect? No. Would I use them again? Certainly. Same goes for another specialist who used to be a trader here, Zedworld.

jimmer will do a good job, good mate aswell, with one car at a time you can concentrate on that project when your a buisness with 10cars + even 20 when i was at ztech it becomes a bit more than a project, and hard work/stress

in ryans defence he still has lots of work as far as im aware, in any case there will be a few bad problems, its about rectifying issues if you dont it bites you in all fairness.

and that is coming from a man in the know !

I wouldn't want to be a Zed mechanic trying to run a business advertising on here! I'm all for openness and the rest but people have to accept that the Zed is a nightmare car to work on and problems often happen. Also people rarely seem to do a full proper rebuild because the cars are not worth all that much to begin with. I've had dealings with Ztech and there weren't any problems, I've had dealings with Zedworld and they have been exceptionally helpful even when I wasn't putting much money their way. Over the last few years we've lost traders off of here that we really shouldn't have. Zcenter, Petrol Heads North West, Zedworld, Zedtech, I'm not saying they were perfect but I'm sure they were no worse than others.

well said that man^^^^

Ditto......

.....and lets face it, it's best to do business with one of the few specialists who actually do have experience working on a 300zx than some grease monkey who doesn't.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Ok, sound advice. Cheers for that everyone. I've decided on two things that i'm going to do to sort my Z out. Buy a few internal parts from smithys place. He seems to have most of the parts on his site I need for an engine rebuild. As for the actual job in rebuilding, Funki Si has referred me to Jimmer. Once I finish the manifold, intercoolers and downpipes, I'll just be left with the engine internals where i'll start to make some calls. 1st Z i've owned that'll be complete in how I want it ;)

I used ztech, found ryan to be exceptinal, but they seem to have gone to ground. I live near windsor. Anyone have ideas where i can get my Z properly looked after. Its modified with forged pistons and larger injectors. About 450 bhp.

Ryan sold up and Ztech was under new management. Have'nt heard anything since though.

SWZ Performance are not that much futher. Near burnham-on-sea, somerset. They are probably the biggest UK zed specialist garage and the forums only Garage trader.

Ztechs new owner, Chris, has been in contact with me, regarding advertising on this forum. He sounds like he has a few good ideas of his own, i.e. interior trimming, recovery service, windscreen service, resprays, etc and, because obviously it's his own business, wants to make a real good go of things and build up a trusted customer base.

He is currently updating his website, and I believe has different, better premises, than the old ZTech.

Sounds like a genuine guy to me, time will tell, anyone having any experience with Chris, and the 'New' Ztech, please let me or Athene know.

e-mail me your number mate and ill sent you it on

scubie @ btinternet.com

Talked to Chris yesterday and it sounds like he is really trying to rebuild Ztech and make it his own business. He has already made some big improvements/decisions that can only help the business. I got my car back from the old Ztech after being off road for a year waiting for a forged engine rebuild, only to discover that the engine is not producing more than 250bhp and that the guy at Dastek Dyno centre said it was dangerous to run the car as it may damage the engine!

I had spent an awful lot of money and imagine how i felt when i found out that Ryan had sold Ztech the next day.

Chris has promised to rectify any problems with the car and although i have only ever talked to him on the phone he sounds genuine and enthusiastic about making this work.

I have owned my Zed for 8 years and know how difficult it is to find quality mechanics for them and i wish Chris all the best in his new venture.

All i can say is forget about the old Ztech as it now no longer exists and lets give Chris and his team a chance to demonstrate that they can meet the high standards that we as Z owners demand.
