Just wondering....

My 300ZX is running a cat back exhaust... with an hks air filter + a greddy clutch.....

Soo about 350 BHP? and say 280lb torque?

How would this compare to a seat cupra turbo? Running 249bhp at 295lb torque?

Considering drags........from say a standstill and from rolling starts?

Any Ideas Appreciated ;)

Could go either way depending on driver's ability and grip.

I know that does not help!

where did all your torque go?

What should the torque be then?

Drivers ability in the 300 would be alot better, as for grip....FWD vs RWD?

I recon he'd be ahead to about 40-50mph then you'll steam past.

His car is lighter and the suspension's probably in much better condition so I think he'd be quicker off the line.

350 brake from a filter and an exhaust?!

Hell fire!

Thats what I was thinking. probably nearer 300 if you're lucky mate.

lol.. was going to say i would be impressed if mine was 300!

350 you'll need like what, remap with a suitable boost increase to around a bar and decatted? with exhaust and filter.

yeah 300bhp tops im afraid mate. as whats been said above really, the seat will beat you off the line due to weight. but youll murder it once the Z wakes up. GGRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! :p

what is it, the Seat Leon Cupra R 1.8T which has stock 225hp and can be chipped and decatted for about the figures you mentioned. ?

If so, its stock 0-60 is high 6 secs, the power increase may but put in the low 6 secs but a 350hp Manual TT 300zx will do 0-60 in the high 4's to low 5's

I'd be suprised if he had you off the line at all ! There not that much lighter and its FWD wont help, plus although its peak power might not be that far of yours, its low down power and power spread cant compare.

If he has the non "R" version then he must of spent a lot of money getting that power up! - results would be same.

my zed is the same spec as yours tuner so im running about 3oo brake and i had a go against a seat cupra r and left him for dead whether it was standard or not i dont know but he was trying !!!!

In his post he says

''Well the civic went and yes I did shed a little tear

But a few hours later I picked up this, 249bhp and 295lbs Torque. Gave it a good clean this morning and thankfully didn't find any suprises , Its an 02 model and good condition all round''

His Dyno Printout =

So am i right in thinking now that from 0-60 the Z should still win? And continue to pull ahead?

Also does anybody know the Z's torque? For the spec i have?

  • 2 weeks later...

my Z has 357bhp and 385lbft of torque and the only thing thats managed to get away from me off the mark was my mates kawasaki ninja but once we were movin i got stuck behind him and had to keep backin off the throttle, was well happy, I've played with allsorts and the only thing thats gave me a good run (apart from me mates bike) was some fancy tvr that I cant even find on google that had some tuning companys name on the back of it, i sat behind him just listening to that lovely noise then he went for it, i had been holding in 3rd (just incase ;) ) so i opened her up and sat behind him through third and fourth then he pulled over and gave me the thumbs up, good man :D

No offence mate but a 13.8 may be pretty good for a Zed but you'll get murdered off the mark by a lot of things out there. Most of the things you've been up against probably don't know how to launch.

well when i ran the 13.8 i had a boost leak and i was running against a caterham super7 which sounded like it was powered by a bike engine or something else that could rev for fun and he was using a sequential box too, all this through toyo R888's and i admit he had me off the mark but the gap didnt get any bigger and he ran a 13.2 so he only had me by .6 of a second, if i didnt have the boost leak i could have possibly closed the gap.

after reading that through again I've noticed i just proved your point  BUT that thing COULD launch and he didnt murder me and i wouldnt consider a high revving caterham super7 a slow car, obviously if we had been on a track he would of wiped the floor with me but if it had of been a straght line over half a mile to a mile i would have passed him
