I know a lot of people have had their black strip removed in favour of going bodycolour. But I'm starting to think that they look much nicer with the black stripe, especially if accompanied with the smoked indicators as fitted to UK cars.

For instance, pearl white here with black stripe, breaks the front bumper up a smidge....

Indicators need some work on them.

Here they are with smoked indicators. Nice clean look to the front end

Now, fog lights will then be a bit of a blot on the landscape. Now I could get the IC ducts from Z1, but quite like this idea...

The bloke that owns this has painted the inner parts of his fog lights in a black-chrome, similar to turb0z, so that they look almost the same as the smoked indicators...

Could someone please colour mine in black as i going for a full respray on monday and need to decide (i dont have photoshop at work) THanks

I actually think the gloss black looks far better especially if you had the roof in gloss black too it looks newer and fresher, i think the grey looks old and faded

Thats it, the oem number plates going!!!

youll be left with holes in ya bumper ;)

i also quite like the gloss black style, but, a) mine is already the charcoal grey colour and, b) i cant see the lights at the front being ovally functional with all that paint over the top...

il stick with the black chrome inserts and charcoal grey strip to get the overall look and let some1 else try the gloss black first :p

James, I know they are not strictly legal, but have you thought about fitting the old style number plates to yours? Black with silver lettering? Get a small 3/4 sized version like mine for the front, but in old-style.

1st question Yes, MJP should be able to get these.

2nd question Yes, those double up as side lights on USDM models.

Is that legal??

not at all legal, i got pulled and done for it, the coppers had nothing better to do of course but they are within their rights to book you for it

so is the cluster arrangement different, or do they utilise the jdm curb marker bulb for the sidelight bulb, or do the indicators permenantly light up with the lights on?

There were, if I remember correctly, 4 different types of clustor.

USDM clustors with orange tabs at the corners, this was the running light. A lot of the US guys tend to convert them to one of the two types of JDM clustor you can get. 1 of which is identical in interior dimensions (reflector partition sizes, with two holes, one for bulbs that are the same size as convention indicator bulbs. The side light section is the same size as the indicator section almost. Then there are the other type of JDM clustor without the running lights in the corners, for cars fitted with reflectors in the rear bumper as opposed to the ones with running lights. These can be converted but come with a smaller running light section with the bulb hole plugged that can be drilled. I originally had these types, which are what tend to be fitted to most. I now have a pair with running lights built into them.

Visually the 2 JDM clustors look almost the same, but the reflector sizes are different, one is obviously drilled as well to accept bulbs and the defuser patern is different. Defuser runs vertically on the ones with running lights built into them and the ones without are kind of hatched in appearance.

Then there's the UK clustor which, from what I can gather, is a non drilled tinted version of one of the JDM clustors.

So, that's four in total. That excludes the 99-spec bumper.
